It looks really sharp on the wall, recessed into it.

Great slick look and accurate. Easy to program and use. The only gripe I have is that once you mount this thing in the wall it better last forever.. but I guess that's the price of looks?

We originally purchased this thermostat because our house has a tight hallway and we liked the idea of mounting the bulk of the thermostat inside the wall so that it's flush to the surface of the wall.

The screen can seem a bit confusing at first, and three years later I still get confused about which of the two hardware buttons to the right of the screen activates what, but otherwise this thermostat is a breeze (no pun intended) to use. Want to temporarily bump the thermostat up or down? Simply touch the current temp (large number in the middle of the screen) and tap the up or down arrows. Voila!

The seven day, four part programming has an incredible feature for this price point: there are four segments to each day (morning, day, evening, night) and not only is it seven day programmable, but you can adjust the time of each segment in each day, allowing you amazing flexibility in when you need to change the temp the thermostat calls for. Need to call for heat or AC earlier than 6AM through the week? No prob. Want to have the furnace kick on later on Saturday or Sunday? Can do. In addition, there is separate programming for heating and cooling.

The one negative is that this purchase replaced the original unit we bought in 2008. That one had to be replaced when the touch-screen stopped responding on the right side only. I don't know that this is common; just that it is the one disappointment we had with this thermostat.

I have two units and had to purchase a replacement unit after 4 years. Initially when I saw this unit sold under the Rite Temp brand model 6036, it was sleek and nice looking. I purchased 2 unit from the "orange" big box store for my upstairs and downstairs HVACs. Cut holes in the drywall and everything wired up easily. But after about 4 years the upstairs unit's touchscreen stopped working. Not all functions but the "temp down arrow". Now the downstairs unit is starting to react the same way, as the down arrow control is intermittent. I am an electronics hobbyist and was able to re-tape the touchscreen connector, this made it work for about 2 weeks and then it failed again. At this point in time, I will probably get one more unit for the failing downstairs control. If they stop working again I will go with something more conventional or modify the housing to retrofit a different thermostat. Remember, drywall cutting is necessary for mounting.

I found these on sale at Home Depot for under $10 so I bought 2 of them. One is on a shelf as a spare (cuz now I have a hole in my wall). I love the look of the flush mount and it works as it should. I laugh at high prices of "learning" thermostats and ones you can program through WiFi. This thermostat learned everything I (programmed) taught it. And not being WiFi, my energy habits can be kept private as it should, if you know what I mean.

These work great. Have had them in 2 houses (have 2 in my house at present - 1 upstairs, 1 downstairs) and they are easy to program and quite accurate. I'd love to see a Wi-Fi version of this because the flush mount is a very nice look and that's only missing feature I'd like to see.

Just make sure the space you want to use it in has enough empty space behind the wall to place the unit in. I think the directions call for 2 inch clearance on both sides in addition to the width of the actual hole you'll cut. I spent some attic appreciation time in July in Arizona running a new wire from the air handler to a better wall location. The old thermostat was surrounded by multiple studs and I didn't want to tear up the drywall looking for a good nearby spot. Ended up just moving it down the hall and it worked out well.

My existing thermostat of a different brand went out during the coldest week of the month. This one was identical except the brand name. When I got it, it was a perfect fit. Once I hooked it up it worked right away. It also came with a stilus to prevent hand contact which can cause it to short circut.

Very happy with this thermostat. It does exactly what we wanted it too! And because we can program our A/C unit, our electric bill has decreased.

Ordered as a replacement when a lightning strike knocked out the thermostat screen. We were somewhat locked in to getting a replacement as we had the hole in the wall.
