Regrettably I know nothing about gaming keyboards and was wondering if someone could help me out. The features for this keyboard include programmable "macro" keys. Are such keys suitable to program them to launch specific applications (non-gaming). I am not a gamer but am trying to find a durable, quiet keyboard with programmable keys for apps. Thanks a lot in advance!
I am going to assume that you are using Windows. From windows XP onwards, you can use shortcuts to do just this. Now this will only work with program shortcuts so what I would consider doing is this:
Create a seperate folder somewhere on your computer (my documents/myprograms etc.). Right click on all of the programs you want to shortcut to, and create a new shortcut. Now bring all these new shortcuts into that folder. On each one, you can right click and click on properties at the bottom. Several tabs will come up, under the "Shortcuts" tab, there is an option to set a shortcut key. Simply click inside that box, and then hit the key you want the shortcut to be.
For example on my G110, if I hit G4 Google Chrome instantly opens.
It's quite easy.
There are programs out there to do more commands (mostly geared for multimedia) but this is the best way to reliably do it within windows, without running a third-party app in the background.
