5.0 out of 5 stars A great tool for independent study., January 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Programmed College Algebra (Paperback)
I use this text for an online college algebra course and find it to be an excellent teaching tool. This text is designed so that an individual works through a topic step by step, with checks for understanding at each step. The topics are reinforced by practice problems. The format is not like a standard text, so it takes some adjustment in study habits, but the adjustment is well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Alternative to Instructor-Dependent Classroom Teaching, March 26, 2006

As another reviewer wrote, I also was completely illiterate in algebra, even after re-taking it while in high school. Programmed learning is the do-it-yourself alternative to instructor-based classroom teaching and is offered in some college learning labs for students who cannot pass traditionally taught algebra courses. As a result of taking a non-credit community college course using programmed algebra textbooks by this author, I became a straight-A math student all the way through Calculus with Business Applications!
