Rui Maximo was born in Dili-Timor to a Portuguese diplomat and Chinese mother whose parents immigrated to Indonesia, grew up in Portugal, Hong Kong, Pakistan, and Senegal before immigrating to the U.S. at age 17. He continues to travel to more parts of the world. With 20 years of experience in the software industry, he spent 7 years in the product group at Microsoft developing previous versions of Lync Server. After co-authoring 5 books on Lync Server and previous versions, he still enjoys writing and developing applications for Lync.
