Superb introduction to Lisp and customizing Emacs.,
By booklover "booklover" (Arlington, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Programming in Emacs Lisp: An Introduction (Paperback)
I found this book very helpful in learning Lisp and learning how to customize emacs. It will help you write your own customizations for emacs and even a little acquaintance with this book will help you incorporate other people's emacs customization code into your version of emacs. There is a lot of Lisp code available on the net for emacs but you probably neeed to customize it for your purposes. This book will teach you how. The book is very clearly written and organized and requires little knowledge of programming. It is nice to have the hard copy but the book is also available in free electronic form on the Web. This is one of the best computer books I've read.

Comprehensive introductory to emacs lisp,

After I read this book, I started tampering with emacs and was able to understand its operation with lisp. Emacs supports a powerful computing environment in addition to its core editor. If it's out of stock in amazon, it can be purchased at www.gnu.org (FSF) directly. |
