This is a terrific book! A must have for VB newbies.,

This review is from: Programming With Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 for Windows (Paperback)
I found lots of basic programming info in this book that either wasn't available in other books or wasn't easy to find. I'm a novice programmer and have learned so much doing the projects in this book. The tutorials are based on what you might be asked to do in the real world, are fairly comprehensive, and offer so much more than the little "hello world" type programs other books use to show programming techniques. Highly recommended for newbies to programming and especially VB programming!

Simply the best VB beginner's textbook ever written!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Programming With Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 for Windows (Paperback)
Diane Zak is an absolute master at teaching, and it really shows in this wonderful introductory textbook for Visual BASIC 5.0. She uses case studies that lead the reader through the construction of applications and the use of a good amount of VB statements, functions, etc. When I started reading, I was brand new to programming. When I finished the text, I really had a sense of having learned an incredible amount about VB, and now I'm writing real applications we use everyday in our office.

The Best for Beginners,
By A Customer
This review is from: Programming With Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 for Windows (Paperback)
I used this in my High School class, and I didn't even need the instructor. Diane's methods are for the very beginner, and the instructions about when to click, got a bit annoying after a while, but it is the best book for a beginner that I have seen in a while. The user learns when to look ahead and see when she is telling you to put in wrong code to demostrate a point, another annoying feature, but easily avoidable. I short, this is one of the best books on VB for the beginner that I have seen.
