5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Guide for Budding Programmers April 9, 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you have a TI-83 or TI-84 and have found yourself tinkering with programs on your calculator, then I highly recommend you get this book. The book is easy to read and you don't need to have any programming experience to get started. The author guides you through writing your own calculator programs with clear instructions for the TI-83 / TI-84 calculators. More importantly, the author ably explains the concepts so that you can write your own, unique programs. A teacher explained to me the "8-Queens" problem (sometimes called the n-queens problem, it is a fairly popular programming problem) in class one day and I thought my trusty TI could solve the problem. My initial program solved the problem in 80 minutes. Going back through this book, as a reference, I optimized my program and it was able to solve the problem in 22 minutes (for comparison, an 800mhz Pentium III can solve for 8-queens in under 1 second, but that is beside the point). The author is extremely knowledgeable about TI calculators and how to program them. If you're at this page considering buying this book, do it. This is the Texas Instruments programming book you have been looking for.
