Text and examples full of typos, omissions and assumptions. Examples are impossible to load. Spent valuable time trying to resolve errors in examples. If you haven't bought it, don't! Author owes everyone that bought it a follow-up with the corrections.

This book is outstanding. At explaining the VisualAge for Java product. Many of the other reviews in my professional opinion are completely missing the point. One person said the product does not match the book this is totally false, perhaps that person should get the correct version of his software "DERR". It may not appeal to UNIX hackers as it does not get into techy geeky stuff. It is not a Java reference and is not meant to be. This book explains by example a nice way to explain things additionally I highly recommend the VisualAge for Java product.

There are many better books if you want to learn Java. I wanted a "handbook" for VisualAge. It provide the fundamentals that can be gotten online. I returned it.
