Instrumental version is the diamond in the rough, January 13, 2001

Of this 2 cd set, devotees will probably agree that the instrumental version is the better of the two cd's. As an owner of just about every Bukem disc available, I can definitevely say that the vocals provided on disc 1 can be done without. There are some fantastic tracks on this disc but MC Conrad and DRS seem to be going through the motions of idly rambling through some of the tracks rather than meshing lyrics and beats as in previous Progression Sessions'. Point being, invest in this set and enjoy disc 2 without the vocals. Track 4 is one of my favorites as is track 10. Big Bud's tracks are also choice material.

A disappointment, October 12, 2000
This review is from: Progression Sessions 5 (Audio CD)
I was eagerly anticipating the release of this mix - I think almost everything Good Looking has touched for about the last three years has been outstanding. I normally really like the MC'ing of Conrad and particularly DRS but on this CD, it's just total overkill - there's barely a pause, and while some of the lyrics are cool, it's all just a bit much. Thankfully, there's an instrumental version included. The opening four tracks are excellent but after that is a track by MC Conrad which just isn't happening, "Close to the Source", which is by far the worst track on LTJ's album and three totally anonymous tracks which passed me by completely. A recovery at the end is led by a brilliant track by Makoto and a lovely bouncy piece by Big Bud. The Good Looking Organisation is the coolest and best label (s) there are - you really expect more from them. As a CD, it's not bad but when compared with previous stuff by Mr Bukem, it's pretty week.

Disappointing, September 25, 2001

Sorry people, but I found this one disappointing, the continual mix seems to go on a bit, not like Bukem's other stuff at all. It does indeed sound like the live set he played last year, but somehow there just isn't enough variety. The second CD being purely instrumental is a bit of a rip off really.
