If you're a Food Network aficionado, this set of five mini mixing bowls is just what you need to keep up with the pros. Set aside a tablespoon of nutmeg in the smallest bowl or 3 cups of flour in the largest. The middle three bowls hold 1/4, 3/4, and 1-1/2 cups, respectively. This is a good value at the price. The smallest bowls are great for lining up your ingredients as you bake. This practice is one I learned in school and is essential to trouble-free and efficient baking. If you line up your ingredients in bowls (and I put them all on a big tray) you won't be forgetting that baking powder, pinch of salt or 1/2 cup of sugar. The largest bowl is a handy mixing size, but for bread baking you will need a larger steel bowl than this. But at the price, you can get two of these sets for lining up those ingredients if you bake a lot. Handier than custard cups for the purpose, as you get different sized bowls.

I use these bowls all the time--for cooking and serving. They are fabulous for holding ingredients before adding them to a recipe or for pre-mixing dry ingredients. Also, the bowls are sleek and attractive enough that I can use them as serving dishes on the table for small salads and condiments. They nestle easily for convenient storage. The two smallest bowls are actually too small for any practical mixing, but they are great for condiments.

I got so many compliments on these bowls that I have bought sets for all of my friends and family. At first I was unhappily surprised by how small the smallest bowls were, but they turned out to be the perfect size for holding the kosher salt on the counter, or the lemon rind that needed to be added at the end of a recipe.
