Progressive GT-3520 International 19-Piece Measuring Cup and Spoon Set

Compaired to other sets, you get more in this set for the same price or less without giving up quality. Plus, you can't put stainless sets in the microwave to melt butter.

Pros:
1. Large set with odd sizes (like 3/4 cup)
2. I won't likely use the really small (like 1/32 tsp) but they can be used as a flour leveler to scrape over the top with the larger cups.
3. Sizes are not printed/painted on so they won't wear off
4. Weighted properly so that when I set it down they lay flat. My old set tipped over.
5. Nice mix of colors which makes them pretty but also makes it easier to tell close sizes apart.
6. The measures are in labled in cups and mL. No conversions.

The only thing I don't care for is that they don't stack together perfectly. The set is in 3 parts - 1 set of large cups, 1 set of medium cups and then a set of spoons.Each individual set stacks well, but when putting the 3 sets together they don't nest perfectly. Minor detail, so it's not worth subtracting a star over IMHO.

List price is currently $9.95, barely 50 cents per piece, and Amazon's discounts make this set an even better deal. I got it to replace my Oxo Good Grips Soft 6-Piece Measuring Spoon Set, Black, which is very solid and has a nice feel but quickly sloughed off its size labels and became discolored. I like this set better.

I appreciate its permanent size labels, molded right into the handles. I like its colors. The storage rings are easy to open, though I prefer to keep my scoops separate. I really, really like the huge range of sizes, and on my very first recipe with them (a cheesecake) I used many of the less-common ones (1/8 tsp, 1/2 tbsp, 2 tsp, and 1 1/2 cup) -- nice to use one scoop instead of two for such things. However, that recipe calls for 1 1/3 cups of sugar, and there's no cup that size. Hardly a big deal, but I want 1 1/3 cups at least as often as the included 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 cup sizes.

The only other negative is that they're pretty light, though admittedly I'm used to the hefty Oxo measures. Just scooping white sugar out of the bag made a cup's handle flex; I'd be careful about scooping anything heavier. They're light enough, too, that a spoon flew free of the dishwasher's silverware rack, and would likely have been toast if my model had an exposed heating element. Load your dishwasher with that in mind.

It's nonetheless a pretty terrific set for the price, and I'm glad I got it.

My last set of measuring cups had sadly dwindled down to 3 different sizes. It was getting difficult to measure 1/3 of a cup out of a 1/4 cup measuring cup. I found this set in my search, and it seemed interesting that it seemed to have a variety of sizes. Ah-ha! For someone whose sets seem to disapear with the socks and tupperware lids, it seemed great. (My personal theory is that aliens need these items to power their space ships :). These cups are sturdy, 'nest' well, and stay that way. No spilling all over the cupboard because they were touched. And the number of sizes makes recipies easy! Having just 2 people to feed in our home means reducing recipies, and this set has sizes that will actually allow us to measure odd amounts.

I was looking for a measuring spoons and cups with the labels raised in the plastic (as part of the plastic). I found that the labels printed on eventually fade away. I love to bake and cook and constantly having to wash the measuring spoons and cups was a bit annoying. I love this set and highly recommend it. It has the spoons and cups that one would regularly see in a recipe; 3 cups, 2 cups, pinch tsp, dash tsp,etc. If you bake and cook a lot, you will love this set. I don't care for the colors, but everything else is fine.

This 19 piece measuring set is a huge time saver. I have a habit of doubling and halving recipes, so I always end up with odd measurements. With uncommonly sized cups, I end up with more precise measurements and I don't have to spend so much time with multiple cups.

I would have like to have gone with stainless steel, but they were too pricey and did not come in such a full set of sizes. These work well, but I find the material a bit on the flimsy side. The rings may keep them together now, but I don't see them lasting long. They don't stay "locked". Otherwise, very useful group of measuring cups and spoons in a great variety of sizes!
12/12/11-I still use these all the time, but three have had their handles snap off with little effort. The 1 cup, 1/3 cup and one of the measuring spoons. I was able to superglue the handles back on, but after breaking off several times in the same place, 1/3 cup is without a handle. I have never washed any in the dishwasher, but do believe other's reviews that they would melt, based on the flimsy plastic. I will continue to handwash. I still think these were a great purchase based on the size of the set and range of measurement. Would like to see them BPA free with sturdier handles. Based on that, I would downgrade them to 3 stars until design is improved.

I like this set a lot. I like having many measuring cups, not only for the variety in measuring amounts, but because for some reason (even though I have small prep bowls) I end up using my measuring cups as prep bowls. So this set is really handy for me because I can use all of those strange measurements that I probably won't use very often as prep bowls without dirtying my more often used measurements. As others pointed out, the rings are quite flimsy. To me this is of little importance because I hate having my measuring cups bound together so I will probably end up taking the darn things off soon anyway. But if you prefer to keep your cups bound together, you might want to consider another set (or purchasing some of those metal binder rings instead). I was really happy to find a set in this color combo because it matches my kitchen nicely. I would recommend these to someone looking for a set with a large variety of measurements for a low price.

I was disappointed when some of these measuring cups came out of the dishwasher warped; had to throw those out. If you are willing to handwash, these are fine, otherwise, don't buy these.

I love the different mix of sizes. The handles feel a little weak, so I am careful to not use the handle when scooping especially brown sugar, but for the price I feel they are an excellent deal and would buy again.

I just got this set, and am impressed with the number of sizes
(it even has pinch, etc). I would have liked it better if the sizes had a contrasting color to make them easier to read.

As with most measuring sets, its accuracy is in question. Using my
Pyrex, I filled a 1 cup twice, and it matched up in several different larger pyrex measuring cups. But it overflowed the 2 cup size in this set, but this set was closer in accuracy than other measuring devices I have.

This set is good for everyday use, but bakers may need to make adjustments to recipes to get the perfect results.

I am not sure if I like the ring that holds the sets together. While it will keep the individual sizes from disappearing, it makes it more difficult to wash and dry.

All in all, a good set for the price paid.
