5.0 out of 5 stars well written
this childrens book is a positive learning experience for introducing music reading to young guitarists.the cd is extremely helpful as the child can point out the notes in the book while listening.the sound effects seem to capture the childs imagination an attention well.i use this book for 5year olds to 9.highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Baby steps to learning the guitar
I like this book,it's easy and explains the basics of a guitar well. However my copy didn't come with a CD which would have made the experience a lot better. I like the video type learning better so I didn't give it more stars. It's a good book.

This review is from: Progressive Guitar Method for Young Beginners: Book 1 (colour) (Progressive Young Beginners) (Paperback)
I am a guitar instructor and I have used several different methods for young students (2nd and 3rd graders) and this book has worked the best! I love that they begin with note reading instead of chords. The colored pictures are wonderful and the exercises and songs are just right and move at a great pace. However, I don't really like the CD that comes with it, I found that it had a lot going on with it (multiple instruments instead of just solo guitar). Another interesting point is that this book begins with the G string and moves to the B string next, at first I was hesitant, but it seems to work!

As advertised. The book was in great shape and the information in the book has been very helpful (as advertised). It is nice to have the CD to go along with the instructions in the book.
