Excellent little known book,
By harrythompson (Fort Knox Rox) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Progressive Jazz Guitar (Paperback)
Constructed in the style of Micky Baker's classic Jazz Course from 1955 but on a much simpler level, this Australian book presents the basic jazz chords along with some theory and chord exercises along with a CD of the recorded examples. Start with this book and then go for Jody Fisher Mastering Improvisation from 1995 which I do not see for sale here.

A good beginning,

This review is from: Progressive Jazz Guitar (Paperback)
Many jazz guitar books are quite difficult right off the bat. This book gets you playing and enjoying rather quickly. This book may not synchronize well with more advanced books but it will have you playing and enjoying and increase your confidence so that you can move on.

Fundamental Jazz theory with practical approach,
By Gravity Mission (AUstralia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Progressive Jazz Guitar (Paperback)
If you want to learn Jazz Guitar without all the 'fluff' that usually goes along with it, this is the book for you. There's enough theory, however, it doesn't overwelm the guitarist, therefore the ability to continue with the book in a practical and successful manner. Whether you want to increase your knowledge of chords/chord theory, or enhance your study of different guitar styles, this will aid you in a basic, but solid foundation in the practical approach to jazz and its relevance to guitar.
