Do you NEED this gadget? Well, no. But it is really useful to have on hand. I like to bake pies but sometimes they turn out juicier than I'd like. The pie gate holds back any fruit from falling into the pie plate & keeps the cut edges nice and neat. I find I use this even if my pie turns out perfect. And it's dishwasher safe on the top rack.

I used this in a chicken pot pie and immediately, the bottom misformed because the pie was, of course, hot. The company was great about immediately refunding my money. i still use the gate, but only occasionally, and usually only in cool pies. It's a really neat idea, though! :)
