I previous had a woven basket for fruit and a separate banana hanger. The genius of this design is to integrate the two. It is quite sturdy; I can hang two bunches of bananas and has an attractive design. It is larger than I had anticipated so it can hold a lot of fruit. The biggest downside it that the metal rods are narrow so they can bruise and indent fruit, especially soft fruits or if you stack the basket full.

This is a great looking fruit basket/banana hanger. I can fill it up with 6 large apples or oranges and then hang 6 bananas. The only issue is if the basket part is empty, but bananas are hanging, the whole thing tips over very easily. A small piece of advice: apples should be placed somewhere separately because they produce a gas that ripens other fruits faster. This could be a good or bad thing, but bananas don't have a very long "shelf" life as it is so I wouldn't recommend putting apples in the basket with other fruit.

**UPDATE**
This fruit basket fell off my counter and broke! After examining it, I realized that the bottom is welded to the sides of the bowl at 2 small points and the force from the fall was enough to break it. I haven't even had this a year.

We had some wicker baskets to hold our fruits and vegetables, but this is much better. You can see what you have, spot rot and they seem to last longer when they get air circulation.

What is important is to hang bananas so that their curve matches the curve of the holder, per the product photo. We found that this unit, plus the also-reviewed two-tiered stainless bowl, holds a pretty typical selection of fruits and vegetables.

Well made, stylish and useful. It seems minimalistic enough to fit most any kitchen design. I like it.

I had the hardest time finding a decent fruit bowl until I saw this one. It is much larger that it appears in the picture. I can easily fit 10 apples in the bottom with Bananas hanging on the hook.. plus they all stay fresh. In fact, my brother saw it and asked where I got it. Now, I am ordering one for him. I haven't been able to find anything close to this in any store. If you have ever been frustrated that the fruit you buy wasn't lasting, try this product because it really extends the life of fruit. Enjoy.

I bought this for my boyfriend's sister as I'd broken her old banana tree. I holds 2 bunches of bananas easily and a whole box of clementines (I think it's a 3 or 4 pound box) in the bowl!!! It fits between the cabinetcabinets on the counter of her kitchen, and looks GREAT! Everyone (her, her kids, her husband, my boyfriend and I) loves it!

Good day! This is a great fruit basket. I received this really quickly and it is huge compared to the size I pictured in my mind. You can easily fit about 10 apples in the bottom, good sized, and still have room for the bananas to hang. It also helps to keep fresh fruit. I have apples that have been in there for a week or two that are just as fresh as when I brought them home. Even if you have to pay shipping, trust me, this product is worth every cent!

What I was really looking for when I originally searched on Amazon was a hanging tiered basket for fruits but I decided to go with this & I am not disappointed. The photo shows the basket holding only 3 pieces of fruit but it could easily hold 8-10 plus the bananas. Since it is made light, the bananas aren't going to just balance there without some fruit in the bowl, but it is perfect if you keep plenty of fruit in the house all the time. The thing I have found true about all fruit bowls is that it is easier to remember to eat your daily fruit if it is displayed on the counter, and the fruit always stays fresher (so long as you put it in a place that isn't too sunny in your kitchen.) This (as said by other reviewers) is a bit bigger than the photo might suggest to you. It shouldn't take up any more counter or table space than a coffee maker or toaster.

I love this fruit bowl it makes me want to buy fruit just so there is something in it. The only semi-negative thing is if you have a bunch of banana's and nothing in the bowl, it will tip over because the banana's are too heavy but just adding an orange or something of that size fixes the problem. Overall though it's great and I'm glad I bought it.

I bought this based on the picture and made the mistake of not carefully looking at the measurements. The picture shown must have miniature fruit because in reality, the bananas hang so low that they actually touch the fruit in the basket which makes the whole thing look kind of weird. I'm adding a picture with real, normal-sized bananas so you can see the comparison between the image on Amazon and how it really looks. It is also pretty flimsy and the hanger bends when you put fruit on it. I'm sending this back.

If you usually buy those cute little bitty bananas, though, this would be perfect.

This bowl holds A LOT of fruit! I can fit about 10-14 apples, oranges, and/or pears without reaching the bananas you can hang above. It is stylish and well designed. The banana tree is very sturdy and can hold a heavy bunch of bananas. Hanging bananas is a great way to keep them fresh longer. This bowl is terrific and I am very pleased. It looks great in my kitchen... I even get complements on it!
