3.0 out of 5 stars OK Product because of major design setback
Durable, collapsible, easy to clean and fits nicely in my sink. Takes up very little space, which is ideal in apartment settings such as my own.

The major downside is it has a hard time holding the plates vertically. This is probably because the grooves are not deep enough and you are left with having to play a game of Jenga to make sure they don't topple...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best dish drainer for small apartments, February 28, 2010

I was sick of my old Rubbermaid dish drainer after moving to a place with less counter top space - I ended up trying to use it as an over the sink dish drainer to much annoyance of my wife and I. We decided to give this product a chance as it is collapsible and not made out of metal which might rust. Originally we were concerned whether it would fit in our sink as the product dimensions weren't specific on the dimensions which go into your sink: 11.5"x10.5"x4.25" is the answer. It should fit most sinks well. The interior (usable) space of this dish strainer is 12.5"x10.5"x4" The silverware strainer which is attached is nice to be able to remove when you don't need it as removing it frees up 3" of the interior space. When collapsed it only about 2" thick. In the two weeks we've owned it, it is holding up rather well. The collapsible portion is silicone, much like collapsible collanders made by OXO or Progressive, and appears to be sturdy. It hasn't shown any signs of stretching or giving when placing heavy pans in the dish drainer. I will report back in a couple of months to report on its durability. The dish drainer is a nice neutral shade of gray, allowing it to easily blend in with stainless steel sinks.

Edit: After 5 months it has held up great, despite overloading this dish drainer (Think a Jenga Tower of dishes, glasses, pots and pans) on a regular basis. The only gripe that I have is the silverware holder - it occasionally will fold down due to the silverware holder only being held up on 4 points. There are some mineral deposits building up near the drain holes but that seems to be our hard water. I could see it being an issue if you have significant rust in your water it would appear unsightly.

I've put off buying a dish drainer for many years because I didn't want to sacrifice the space under my sink for its storage. I am so glad I decided to give this one a try. It pops open and shut quite easily by pushing it against my countertop. The drainer rests inside the sink so you must be willing to give up a portion of sink space. While the ends pull out far enough to easily reach both sides of the sink, they don't yet slide smoothly -- I have to kind of rock them out. A small inconvenience which doesn't add more than a couple of seconds to the set-up. The silverware section isn't particularly easy to snap into place -- I don't need it so I've simply removed it because it can be quickly popped in and out of the drainer. I have a dishwasher, so my every-day manual dishwashing is limited to cutting-boards, pots and pans and sharp knives. The collapsible drainer drains dishes very well and completely empties itself of water so that it can be quickly dried and stored. When collapsed the drainer is 2" high, so I can stack it on-edge under my sink without having to rearrange anything. If the handles and the silverware section worked a little more smoothly, this would be a 5-star review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product!!!, June 10, 2010

I ordered this one because my sister uses a competitor's sink drainer made out of staninless steel and it has rusted after about one year of use. Overall I love this product. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Pros- It's sturdy enough to stand on its own with things in it when I pull it out of the sink for more space. So I use it as both over-the-sink and regular on-the-counter drainer. It's also lightweight and a space saver. It's small, but I love that it's small so I don't pile up stuff too much.
Cons- Even though I love seperating utencils out, the plastic partition is loosely fit and doesn't stay in its place all the time. It's small. Others in my family miss on-the-counter drainer for its bigger size.

I bought this about a month ago after getting a new deeper single bowl sink. I didn't want to use a conventional dish rank that would take up counter space. Most of them are stainless steel and cost about $50. This one is so much better--cheaper and folds flat to store under the sink. It holds heavy pans and skillets without sagging.

We have been using this strainer for about a month now. It replaced a wooden rack on the counter. It fits in the sink nicely and it looks good, too. The holes in the bottom are pretty small, so a large amount of water takes a little time to drain. That's no biggie for us. It collapses easily and pops right in the dishwasher for easy cleanup once a week or so. We would definitely recommend this product, especially if you need to save counter space!

5.0 out of 5 stars Functional, stylish, affordable, July 12, 2010
This review is from: Progressive International Collapsible Over the Sink Dish Drainer (Kitchen)
Since I have dual sinks in my small studio's kitchen, I hoped to find a quality in-sink dish drainer rather than the rack/drain tray. This proved to be a wonderful choice. Because I hand wash everything, I knew this drainer would be a permanent staple in my sink, and I'm happy to say this drainer is good-looking and doesn't stain or accumulate weird build-up like my old draining rack. My only complaint is the utensil holding section. there's a piece of plastic with holes for utensils to fit down through, but it detaches from the rack almost every time I remove a utensil from it. Perhaps I just need a little more practice. This is a solid product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful, Excellent Quality Item, June 12, 2010

I purchased the Progressive International Collapsible Over The Sink Dish Drainer for times when there is not enough dishes to run the dishwasher. I find it is perfect for my intended use and it would also be a big plus for RV, Travel Trailer/Motor Home use. It is small, exactly what I was looking for to handle simple and quick clean ups. The over the sink draining and collapsible feature is the biggest selling point. In use and also when not in use it takes virtually no counter or storage space. This product is very well constructed, solid and sturdy. I am extremely happy with this and would highly recommend it to any one for light, hand wash dish draining and drying. I love this item. Has it made my life better....a solid YES. How? By making a simple chore...SIMPLE, keeping counter and storage space free for other uses. Well worth the great price.

I have been looking for a dish drying rack for a long time. My one concern is that small things are always falling through the spaces in other drying racks and this is not a problem with this item. I also like that it hangs on the sink so that it does not touch the bottom of the sink.

I have only had it for a week so I don't know if it will last forever, but I like it so far!

edited to add: I've now had this for over a year and it still looks great and works great. Very happy with this purchase! I use a kitchen scrub brush and dish soap to clean the nooks and crannies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Dish Rack for Tight Spaces, August 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Progressive International Collapsible Over the Sink Dish Drainer (Kitchen)
Like many other residents of NYC, I do not have much counter spaces in my kitchen. This rack is exactly what I need!

Pros
1) It easily compressess into a flat board (as thick as a cutting board) I store it in a standing rack with my cutting boards

2) Large dinner dishes easily fit into the grooves.

3) Fits easily in the sink and can support a lot of weight.

4) The utensils divider is great and can easily store them standing up.

5) Holes in the bottom easily drain water into the sink

Cons
1) Not enough storage for many glasses or mugs.

Overall, this product is fantasic and I am very pleased!
