5.0 out of 5 stars the most useful thing I bought all year
Its funny how many people have never heard of a microwave cover. Instead of using soggy paper towels, plastic lids, and other coverings for reheating microwave meals, use something designed for the microwave. Made out of dishwasher safe plastic, these covers go direcly over whatever your cooking and protect from splatter. This particular brand comes in sets of two so when...

2.0 out of 5 stars works, but poorly designed
How hard is it to design a microwave cover? Not that hard, I would imagine. Just design a round cover that fits over most plates and bowls. It seems pretty straight forward.

Progressive manages to botch the job by making a grip that depresses into the top of the cover, rather than extending over the top. Because the cover is so shallow, this little...

Made out of dishwasher safe plastic, these covers go direcly over whatever your cooking and protect from splatter. This particular brand comes in sets of two so when one is dirty, the other can be used. Cleaning a microwave is time consuming, these covers saves you this ordeal. These covers are so inexpensive, and are so practical. Its a worthwhile purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars works, but poorly designed, December 12, 2008

How hard is it to design a microwave cover? Not that hard, I would imagine. Just design a round cover that fits over most plates and bowls. It seems pretty straight forward.

Progressive manages to botch the job by making a grip that depresses into the top of the cover, rather than extending over the top. Because the cover is so shallow, this little depression dunks itself into the food about 80% of the time, sometimes smooshing the food and always making a mess to clean up afterwards.

This cover gets the job done and saves me money on saran wrap, but I can't help but feel that the designers worked overtime to build a flaw into a fairly foolproof concept.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too small, November 17, 2003
By A Customer
Nice idea, but too small. Not wide enough for my regular dinner plates, and not tall enough for my salad or pasta bowls. As a result, they get almost no use. Two inches wider and taller and I'd be happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for smaller microwaves!, April 24, 2006

We have a smaller microwave in our kitchen and this fits perfectly on our plates. It could probably use another inch in height so it wouldn't get dirty so much, but that would be a luxury - it works just fine as it is. We have two of them and have been using them for a few years now and they work nicely - the vents also allow you to use them anytime you would use saran wrap, without the mess and pain. If you have a smaller microwave, I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great - Saves Paper & Keeps the Microwave Cleaner!, September 12, 2007
I am so glad I finally bought one of these. I had been using way too much paper over the years, and that sometimes doesn't work too well anyway. How many times has the paper fallen into your bowl and gotten soaked with food - yuck.

I keep this in the microwave, and the inside is infinitely cleaner!! Every day or so, I just wipe off the cover or toss it in the dishwasher. -And because I keep it in the microwave, even my husband uses it! That has been a great improvement!!

I have seen this same item at other places, but the Amazon price is the lowest I have seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1 year later still stainless and unwarped, November 9, 2009

I bought this in November of 2008, and use it daily. Even after a year, it rinses clean. There are no stains even from splatters of tomato sauce and barbeque sauce. Other reviewers complained of a small diameter but I feel sitting higher on the plate, the depressed finger holds do not get dirty. It lets out just enough moisture that food does not get soggy, but not so much it dries out. I am back after a year buying four more for Christmas presents.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not large enough, March 14, 2009

This only barely didn't fit my dinner plates (which are 10.5", fairly standard, I'd think), which was frustrating because it always had to sit on the plate crooked. Seems like they would make it large enough to cover a regular dinner plate. Other than that, it did the job well enough. I have a Sharp Warm and Toasty oven, and I accidentally toasted this cover instead of microwaved it, so it's toast. I'll be replacing it with a larger one that fits my plates.

1.0 out of 5 stars Steam burned a hole in it, December 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Progressive International Microwavable Food Cover (Kitchen)
Worked fine for about 10-20 times in the microwave. However, after that the steam melted the plastic in the middle (where the recessed handle is), making the cover useless. It should have been made of a plastic thick/hardy enough to withstand steam...

Simple, effective, exactly what I wanted, and the second a gift for my daughter in law, who is wonderful. It saves a great deal of time which would be otherwise spent cleaning my microwave. Easy to clean, and keep clean.
