5.0 out of 5 stars Great Oven Mitts
I love these oven mitts. They have a magnet in them so you can stack them one on top of the other and stick them to your oven or refrigerator, or other metal surface. They are not as cumbersome as the really long, heavily molded ones. I bought them for all of my grown children and they all love them too.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the Arco ones
I got these because the pair cost less than one of the Orka gloves, but there's a reason why. The Orka glove is large, unwiedly and cumbersome, but that thing will withstand HOT temperatures. With these, I can feel the heat very quickly, almost as soon as with cloth gloves. I'm not impressed. I'd rather use one Orka than this pair.

They are just ok. Really hot plates get to you after a minute or so.

A little cumbersome to wear unless you use both, hard to pick up a dish with just one hand.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beware of these!, February 26, 2008
This review is from: Progressive International Oven Mitts 2-Pack, Blue (Kitchen)
We have had these for a few months now and must say BEWARE!!!

They are not really comfortable and seem to transmit too much heat thru for my liking. But the worst is that there is a magnet at the wrist area to hang them up with on a metal surface. Seems convenient but on the other side of the glove opposite the magnet is an elliptical hole. My wife who is LEFT HANDED had the hole in the glove right next to her wrist and severely burnt that area of her palm near her wrist. This is a severe design flaw.

DO not get these if you are left handed and I don't recommend anyway.

2.0 out of 5 stars you still feel the heat, March 7, 2010

I was so excited about these mitts, but upon their first use, it was evident that the heat transfers through to your hands from the time it takes to carry a cookie sheet from the oven to a counter about 10 feet away. I'm not saying you'll get burned, but you'll be uncomfortably hot! I'd expected this innovative material to be better than thick cotton padding with a teflon liner, but it's not.

I was hesitant to buy this because the heat rating was lower than the more expensive mits. They work just fine for baking and they cleanup much better than cloth mits. My wife bakes often and they are in as good shape as they were a year ago. No regrets here.

I have a very tiny kitchen and the magnets on these mitts are wonderful - you can place one on top of the other and attach to your fridge, freeing up quite a lot of space. They are fairly heat resistant, though after a minute or so, the heat begins to penetrate.

3.0 out of 5 stars Acceptable for the price...but..., December 27, 2010

You might want to pay a little more for something a little better...

PROS:

-The built-in magnets are helpful for keeping them within reach

-Silicone is nice if you're handling pots/pans with hot liquids (if it splashes you, it doesn't absorb or burn your hands)

-Easy to clean (I just wear them and use dish soap and water as if I'm washing my hands)

-Nothing has ever "slipped" from my hands, even when the gloves are wet

CONS (only one...but it's a big one!):

-The inside seam between the thumb and forefinger allows heat to come through...and it gets hot! You definitely have to use two hands to cradle items that would normally only require a tight grip with one hand. It's a shame, because the shape of the glove basically forces you to pinch items in between your thumb and your hand...exactly where it burns like heck!!!

I was looking for silicon oven mitts after my latest pair of cloth ones burned. These were the most reasonably priced ones I found. I have noticed that in some situations they do get hotter than I would like but have only noticed this when I have been holding something for an extended period of time. I do like the magnets built into the gloves as since I can just attach them to the fridge I'm less likely to accidentally leave them near a burner.

picked these up b/c my bf kept getting food stuck on cloth oven mitts. these are pretty basic- pure silicone, no cloth linings. the magnets as other reviewers mentioned are the little "buttons" you see in the pic and can tack onto metal surfaces. as to size, they're a standard oven mitt size, not huge, not small. re: heat tolerance, again, they're not particularly above/below the normal. they're not super thick which helps w/flexibility, but you can get your pans in and out in a reasonable amount of time. i'm satisfied :)
