I once had a tupperware burger press that was terrible so I gave up on them and went back to using my hands to mold hamburgers. I was never really satisfied with making them by hand either because of the issue where they bulk up in the middle during cooking. This "Progressive International" burger press solves everything with its lift-out dimple design and wide compartment. I use about 5 oz. of meat for each burger. It makes the perfect burger...not too thin, yet wide enough to overhang the bun a bit. The dimple attachment puts an indentation in the meat that prevents it from bulking up in the middle during cooking, and it enables you to easily lift the burger out of the press. This burger press makes very quick and easy work out of molding hamburgers and it cleans up nicely in the dishwasher too...I love it!

This is the best money I've spent on a kitchen gadget lately. I didn't know what I was missing until now. And that is perfect, home made burgers. This burger press makes 1/3 pound burgers that are just the right size for my family. I have tried using the burger press with non-stick cooking spray, or just on it's own, but the best way to use this is to line with plastic wrap, press, wrap the plastic wrap up then remove. I also found this for under $5 at Walmart.

It's cheap, its plastic and seems totally unnecessary, but you know what, its pretty nice to have. I weigh out 5 oz burgers on a kitchen scale. Plop them in, squish them and voila, perfectly sized, shaped and dimpled burgers. Maybe it's all psychological, but they seem to cook better on the grill and batches cook more evenly cause they are all the same size. My wife rolled her eyes at this purchase, but she seems to think it's pretty nice now too (or at least does not roll her eyes anymore). I like to pre-make packs of burgers, put parchment paper between the patties, vacuum seal them and freeze them and quick burgers ready to go on busy nights. Not gonna revolutionize anyone's life, but it's well made and a low price, so what the heck. Its such a simple device, makes me wonder what the other brands that get bad reviews are like, I mean, come on, squish meat into a circle, how hard can it be?

A simple gadget to do a simple job; make a round burger. The diameter is correct and it cleans up well in the dishwasher.
CONS:
The ground burger sticks to the plastic. May try some non-stick spray during the next burger making session. I also kept forgetting to place the handle tray on the bottom plate. Just absent-minded.
CONCLUSION:
A good buy. Would be a better buy at say $4 or $5. Almost $8 is kinda pricey. But free shipping and no sales tax sealed the deal.

This is a simple design that works just as it should. My husband likes thinner burgers which I find hard to form by hand, and I don't like burgers that end up like a ball cut in half after grilling. This product helps in both those areas. The "bump" side of the insert makes a slight indentation in the burger that helps keep the burgers nice and flat and not rounded when you cook them, and the insert helps lift the meat easily out of the mold. You can still decide how much ground meat to use, which determines the thickness of your burger.
I've been making burgers ahead of time and freezing them with small squares of wax paper between, then placing them in larger zip-loc bags. Now when we decide to ask someone to come over for a burger, there's much less work involved.
This mold is made of heavy duty plastic and pops right into the dishwasher.

I've had several burger presses over the last few years, but I had a real issue with patties getting firmly stuck inside and then falling apart afterwards with the most recent one. I let the Williams-Sonoma brand name and the ability to make two patties at the same time get the best of me. So I sought a simpler, more dependable burger press and I'm very glad that I did! I prefer to buy larger packages of ground beef, make the patties myself, and freeze them for whenever I need them. The size of these patties is good and lines up with my own personal preference. Probably 1/3 of a pound. It's easy to use and both the dimple and grooves do their little part to help ensure the burgers cook evenly. The patties hold together well while I'm making them, in the freezer, and on the grill. Grip handle is a nice touch and it's dishwasher safe. A big improvement over what I was working with before and definitely my go to burger press for as long as it holds up!
