5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best colanders I've ever used
I needed a colander that had small enough holes to allow me to drain Asini de Pepe pasta (they are about the size of tapioca pearls once cooked). This one fit the bill (I checked one at the store for hole size, then bought it here as it was cheaper).

The collapsible feature and the expanding arms are both extremely handy. I have a small kitchen, so being able...

1.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Concept, faulty material
Customer Video Review     Length:: 1:36 Mins
We loved this, and we had been looking for the right colander to fit all of our needs...size (large)...small enough holes...etc. This is a great concept, but in under a month, after 4-5 uses, the material had cracked at the expandable seams, and it is almost unusable now (noodles can fall out of the cracks now...though veggies can still be...

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best colanders I've ever used, April 6, 2009

I needed a colander that had small enough holes to allow me to drain Asini de Pepe pasta (they are about the size of tapioca pearls once cooked). This one fit the bill (I checked one at the store for hole size, then bought it here as it was cheaper).

The collapsible feature and the expanding arms are both extremely handy. I have a small kitchen, so being able to flatten this out and stand it up against my pans, vertically, is great.

It's easy to clean (either by hand or by dishwasher, though it's so easy I usually just hand-wash it), seems solidly built (I wonder how long it will expand and collapse; guess we'll find out!), handles hot foods without a problem (and the handles don't conduct that heat to your hands!) and is just an all-around great little tool.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good but I Have a Suggestion, March 2, 2009

This over-the-sink colander works very well. It's easy to adjust, drains well, is dishwasher safe and stores easily. The only suggestion I have for future models would be to make the extensible arms a little tighter. I haven't done it yet, but I'm just waiting to accidentally bump it and spill the contents into the sink. Otherwise recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to clean, but still love it, February 9, 2008
I love the fact this thing collapses. I was a little worried hot water would melt it, but it's still there and it seems to be okay. It's a great storage solution for people with small kitchens and it's easy to fit on MOST sinks.

My only issue is the fact it's hard to clean.

i love this colander. i have had one for about two years and it is so convenient that when i got a second home, i had to get another one. it streches to hang on any sized sink, so what is being strained does not sit in the dirty sink water, and it folds nicely to fit in my cabinet along side the pots and pans. it is sturdy and easy to use.

I love everything about this Colander, except the fact that it has started to rip at the seams just as shown in the video someone sent. I have had mine since June of 2009 so I got almost two years of use out of it, but I don't do a lot of cooking either so it might have broken sooner if I actually used it a lot. You will enjoy this when you use it but don't get too attached as it will not be with you for long.

4.0 out of 5 stars LARGE collander, December 22, 2009

This review is from: Progressive International 6 Quart Collapsible Over-the Sink Colander, Blue and White (Kitchen)
This colander has alot going for it. Large capacity and collapsible design. However, it is SO large that it is hard to store and does not fit well in the dishwasher. The reason I got it was to improve my storage situation not make it worse. I sometimes use this as a garbage bin to extend the size of my counter when cooking large projects or cleaning lots of meats and vegetables. It fits over the sink well and holds my produce refuse out of the way until I can dump it all in the trash. I really like the flexibility of this collander and its abilty to fit the sink but it is very big.

5.0 out of 5 stars Progressive International 6 Quart Collapsible Over-the Sink Colander, June 8, 2009
This review is from: Progressive International 6 Quart Collapsible Over-the Sink Colander, Blue and White (Kitchen)
I absolutely love this! Wish I would have bought it instead of the one I origionally purchased.
It is so easy to use and fits any sink.
My only complaint is that the handels don't snap in place/shut. That would make it a little easier to clean. The handels want to flop open when I'm washing it,but I manage. No reason to not purchase this. There are so many great things about it. It's nice and deep so it holds a lot of pasta. It is so easy to clean. Storage is a snap because you can collapse it. It's the BEST I've ever used! Buy it, you won't be disapointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Personally cannot recommend for hot use!, March 14, 2011

I've been using this colander for close to two years and it's holding up well. Problem is that due to the shape/design, boiling water can very easily splash back up at the user. I have to be extremely careful...of course I'm always careful with boiling water...but I've owned many other colanders over the years and the extensive splashing problem is unique to this one. I'm here to replace it with something else after scalding my forearm for the umpteenth time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't last long, February 6, 2011

The concept of this colander is great, so I bought it despite the warnings that it doesn't last long---only to discover that yes, it doesn't last long. Six months after I started using it, the plastic split. I won't buy it again.
