5.0 out of 5 stars Great spinner
The best spinner I have ever used and not at all expensive. Even if the string breaks over time, I would buy another one because of its concept and its value. Yes, if you aren't careful and too aggressive, it might break. But, I think you are getting your money's worth if you have a plastic kitchen item that lasts a year. Just replace it. I will when this one wears out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only for light use.
I probably go through at least six heads of lettuce a week in my house, and since I'm not into eating dirt, organic or not, I need a sturdy salad spinner. This is not it. I don't mind that I have to empty the bowl and spin again. What I do mind is that the rip-cord stopped "catching" properly after a couple of weeks, and then snapped free after a couple of months...

I've seen this on sale several places, and if you only need to wash lettuces once or twice a week and you can get it cheap, then it might be worth it. But if you're into preparing salads every day and need to use it on a daily basis, it's not worth it. It's too bad because it's good-looking.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fell apart after a couple of uses, July 27, 2009
This review is from: Progressive International Salad Spinner (Kitchen)
I bought this salad spinner on sale and have found it to be very cheaply made. The components of the lid have been glued together, and mine came apart after I had used it 2 or 3 times. I cannot see why an item that comes into contact with water frequently would be glued. I have re-glued mine, but do not know how long it will last this way, I just hated to throw the whole thing out. My advice would be to invest in a better quality product, you really do get what you pay for.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked great until the string broke, June 6, 2010
This review is from: Progressive International Salad Spinner (Kitchen)
This spinner worked just fine for us for about a year, but recently the fabric string casing around the pull string started to fray and then snapped entirely. Now I'm searching on Amazon for a spinner that isn't a pull string...

1.0 out of 5 stars Never even got to use it., January 10, 2012
This review is from: Progressive International Salad Spinner (Kitchen)
I am very disappointed in this spinner. My mother has one of these spinners and bought one for me when I moved out. I put the "dishwasher safe" bowl in the dishwasher on a light cycle to wash it before use, and it came out completely warped. The concept is great but it is so cheaply made, and my mom's doesn't even dry the lettuce as advertised! Don't waste your money- I know I won't be purchasing another one.

3.0 out of 5 stars cord snapped free after < 1 year; great while it worked, though, December 24, 2011

While it was working, it worked very well and really spun the water off without sending the small leaves shooting through the basket. However, before a year's use (maybe 8 mos.) the cord snapped and now it is just a basket inside a bowl. Good for keeping lettuce in the fridge, but clearly that was not the purpose of buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great!, July 15, 2011
This review is from: Progressive International Salad Spinner (Kitchen)
I picked this salad spinner up at walmart for like 9 bucks, and it's beyond my expectations. I use it for salad, and vegetables and it drys my food perfectly. If your harsh or pull hard on the draw string I could see this thing breaking. But if your responsible and careful while handling it, you should have no problems. I've used this a lot and its still good as new. I don't know what I would do without my salad spinner!

1.0 out of 5 stars Mechanism glued so repair impossible, June 27, 2011

The pull-cord stopped working after a few uses. If I could rewind the cord (like a yoyo) it might work again, but the parts are glued together so that I can't get inside to make a repair.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this salad spinner!, February 12, 2011

I bought this for $8 using the 20% off coupon at the local home goods store. I couldn't be more pleased. I am only cooking for two, so it might be a problem for larger volumes of salad. But for my needs, it is perfect. One pull of the cord, and lettuce is pleasantly dry.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work at all- DON'T BUY!, January 30, 2011
This review is from: Progressive International Salad Spinner (Kitchen)
A 1 star is too good for this junk. I bought this on a whim at Bed Bath & Beyond, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it after reading the reviews. First of all, it's very clunky to use, the lid doesn't stay on, the string keeps catching, and the bowl keeps coming out of the stand. Very cheap.

Worse than all of this- it doesn't work AT ALL. My lettuce comes out just as wet as when I put it in. I've even tried severely limiting how much lettuce I put in at one time. Still doesn't get it dry. I end up using a paper towel to dry everything.

Worst part is, I bypassed cheaper ones for this so I could get a decent spinner- total waste of money. Don't bother with this piece of junk.
