This is the steamer I wish I'd bought years ago - big enough to hold lots of veggies, sturdy, cleans easily, works with a variety of sizes of pots and pans. Leaves the cheap supermarket models in the dust!

This is exactly what I was looking for. It not only works in a saucepan but I can lower it to steam asparagus also. I received it within two days.

We got this steamer mainly to steam shrimps. We opted for this larger 11" diameter steamer so we could use it in one of our larger stock pots. The steamer works like a charm and cleans up easily in the dishwasher. So far we've steamed shrimps, fishes, and veggies. Yummers! and healthy for you too!

Beer Steamed Shrimp With Tomato Salsa

Ingredients:

* 1 tsp. coarse salt shopping list
* 6-8 ripe plum tomatoes, seeded and cut into 1/2" cubes shopping list
* 1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and diced shopping list
* 1-3 pickled jalapeno peppers, seeded and minced; OR 2-3 T. chopped, drained, canned jalapenos shopping list
* 1/2 red onion, finely chopped shopping list
* 2 scallions, thinly sliced shopping list
* 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
* 2 T. chopped fresh parsley leaves shopping list
* 1 can (12 oz.) beer shopping list
* 1 T. crab or shrimp boil seasoning; OR 2 crushed garlic cloves, 6 whole allspice & 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes shopping list
* 1 1/2 - 2 lbs. shrimp, shelled but tails intact, devined shopping list
* Freshly ground pepper to taste shopping list
* juice of 1 small lime shopping list

How to make it

* Make Salsa:
* Sprinkle salt over tomatoes in colander and toss gently. Let drain 10 minutes. Combine bell pepper, jalapenos, onions, scallions, garlic, parsley, pepper & lime juice in a mixing bowl. Toss gently & stir in drained tomatoes. Let stand at room temperature 30-60 minutes.

* Prepare Shrimp:
* Heat beer and crab boil seasoning to boiling in bottom of steamer. Place shrimp in steaming rack & steam, tightly covered for 2 minutes. Stir once, then continue to steam until shrimp turn pink, 1-2 minutes longer.
* Transfer shrimp to serving platter. If salsa is too watery, pour off excess liquid. Add salsa to shrimp & toss to combine. Serve hot, at room temperature or chilled.

Two of the three legs that support the basket were no longer attached to it when I pulled it out of the box. The whole thing is pretty cheaply made. I was able to get a full refund for it and I do not intend to get a replacement.

I am very disappointed in this product. I had the exact same product from another manufacturer and used it for years without any sign of rust. Within 30 days of using this brand, it was showing signs of rust. I treated it no differently than the last one I had and I paid twice as much for this one. Unless you don't mind replacing your steamer every few months, I would look for a better brand.

I eat alot of watermelon like an addict. I like to cut it up and put in a big plastic container and keep in the fridge. The problem is that the water accumulates on the bottom of the container and ruins the bottom layer of the melon. I had this idea, if I could store this with something on the bottom that allows the water to drain away from the melon. So I bought this to use for that purpose. It worked out FANTASTIC! I placed it in the large round container, cut the melon and set on top of it. I purchased this one because of the narrow part in the middle. The one at my local store had a large middle part that would get in the way. It also works great for it's intended use as a steamer.

As far as the purchase, as usual I got it quickly and in perfect order which is the norm when I purchase from Amazon.

I came looking for this type of steamer after having gone through multiple stores looking for the perfect steamer. None were heavy duty enough for me. This steamer is exactly like my old one and it works perfectly in different sizes of cooking pans. This steamer gets a real workout as I am doing a lot more steaming of veggies due to a major change in eating habits.

This was exactly was I was looking for. It does exactly what its suppose to do, steam veggies! Works great, cleans easily.

Looking for something to keep blue crabs out of water, this steamer insert works great. Fits my 5 quart dutch oven (big pot) perfectly. Be sure to measure your pot diameter before ordering.

I've used several of these steamers over the years. They have generally lasted about 5 to 10 years. I'll be supprised if this one laste more than three weeks. It practically falls apart in your hands. Very cheap.
