A goldmine of classical music,
This review is from: Progressive Popular Classics of the Great Composers Volume 3 (Paperback)
I learnt to play the classical guitar from books. After learning the basics, the thirst for playing more classical music intensified. Then I came across Mr. Waldron's books. His transcriptions and CDs were just the right combination for me. The CDs are not just a reference source but also a pleasurable listening experience. All the pieces included are some of the best music I have heard. Obviously Mr. Waldron's expertise shines throughout the CDs. I would give it 2 more stars for the sheer simplicity of arrangement. Buy them. It would be the beginning of a lifelong romance with this versatile instrument, the Classical Guitar.

This review is from: Progressive Popular Classics of the Great Composers Volume 3 (Paperback)
I am a senior music composition, classical guitar major and all 6 books in this series contributed to my repertoire. The 1812 Overture and Ave Maria are great. I don't like that the last 10 pieces are always challenging but the first 20 are easy enough to sight-read in one try. I own all 6 books and I've ended up arranging harder versions of pieces. These books give you a head start on some pieces. If you're a beginner this book is perfect. If you're a virtuoso these books are great for sight-reading and getting a jump start on arranging pieces you can't find guitar music for.
