5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!!!, April 20, 2008
This review is from: Progressive Rock Keyboard: Hal Leonard Keyboard Style Series (Paperback)
I don't why anyone has'nt written a review for this book yet. Its perfect, and the accompanying CD is so helpful to help learn the rhythms of progressive rock keyboard. I would greatly recommend this book if you are sick of playing yankee doodle or any other book with boring sheet music. Contained in the book is an adequate description of the genre and presents perfect examples that you can learn. I found this book very satisfying and not too hard. I also have the rock keyboard and find that one great as well. So do buy these books.

Being exclusively a prog-rock oriented keyboardist, I was a little skeptical about the contents of this book before purchasing it, but, to my surprise, Dan Maske has proven to a real prog-rock 'connoisseur'. For starters, the band references employed in the book are great, drawing both from classics like ELP, VDGG or King Crimson, as well as more obscure bands like Anglagard and Ozric Tentacles. Some of the classic analog keyboards are covered in detail (such as the mellotron and the minimoog) not to mention the old beloved Hammond B3 Organ. The material included in the CD is phenomenal, illustrating very well the printed material. The final lessons are supported by backing tracks for real-time practice. Pretty much, recommended to INTERMEDIATE level players...
