2.0 out of 5 stars Seriously?
I cannot believe that reviewers gave this book 5 stars. The only reason I finished the book is that I had hope that it would get better and I liked Luc. The author kept on saying that Katherine was naive; I could have dealt with that. Nope. She was a functioning idiot with not a bit of common sense. What I thought was ridiculous was that the author tried to mask her...

Katherine Murphy's new work assignment: Find a donor with the perfect genes so her boss, Lydia Ashworth, can have a baby. The reward: Promotion to VP of Research. After a lifetime being uprooted by her alcholic father, this promotion means Kat can finally have stability and purchase a home of her own. Successful sperm is the only option.

With Kat's challenged social skills, asking hot men about their genetic make-up doesn't produce a willing applicant. So Kat enlists help from her popular best friend, Luc. Together, they comb the City in search of the proper genes. Completing her assignment is easier with Luc's help, and somewhere along the sperm search, Kat finds their friendship taking a new turn...

Quirky, fun, and surprisingly touching...Kate Perry's debut is a definite keeper.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny Quick Read Romance~ Loved it!, July 16, 2008
This review is from: Project Daddy (Zebra Debut) (Mass Market Paperback)
I just happen to pick this up from a used book store....... i confess, i liked the cover.

This book was a wonderful surprise! It was so cute!

Katherine is working her way up the corporate ladder. She's given a project to find her psychotic boss a sperm donor, with a promise that if she succeeds she'll become vp at work. Katherine enlists her best friend Luc to help her find sperm candidates and what happens afterwards is hilarious and sweet.

Katherine rambles off random and odd facts whenever she gets nervous (which is often) and she will keep you laughing throughout the whole book!

This book is hilarious!

I loved everything about it...... great characters you can feel for, fall in love with, and laugh at. I read it in one day because it was hard to put down. I'm going to recommend it to all my friends!

I cannot believe that reviewers gave this book 5 stars. The only reason I finished the book is that I had hope that it would get better and I liked Luc. The author kept on saying that Katherine was naive; I could have dealt with that. Nope. She was a functioning idiot with not a bit of common sense. What I thought was ridiculous was that the author tried to mask her inability to put two and two together in funny prose. It would have been a great book if Katherine had been a smart, logical woman in the same situation. More power to those who waste their time reading Project Daddy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant surprise, October 11, 2007

This review is from: Project Daddy (Zebra Debut) (Mass Market Paperback)
I could NOT put this book down and am paying for it today for staying up late into the night to finish it. It was fresh and funny and touching and endearing.

I did get frustrated when Kat and Luc didn't communicate how they felt, but instead Luc seemingly gave up on her and Kat let him. Given they were best friends for so many years, I think she would have given more priority to the relationship over her career problem and Luc would have talked to her rather than jumping into a relationship with her boss. But it was very heartbreaking to read about their dissolution. Luc's hurt jumped off the pages and though Kat came off as cold and unfeeling at times, her hurt was also clearly there. Also, given their longtime relationship, Luc would have known Kat well enough to know her lack of self-confidence or cluelessness in a man/woman relationship and understand her reasons for her strong drive to succeed in her career and therefore he should have been able to be up front with her about his feelings. But then it wouldn't have been as emotional as it was and I loved this book.

It's one of those where I can't get it out of my mind after finishing it. I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Surprise!, February 12, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't usually write book reviews, but I did want to write a review for this particular book. I often read reviews before downloading anything to my Kindle, as I don't want to pay for a book I'll hate, so I know that reviews can be important when deciding what to get. I wanted to read something before I went to bed last night- something quick and not super engaging so that I wouldn't get sucked in to reading all night- and decided on this book. I figured, from the title (which, to be honest, sounds like some sort of 80s-style romance novel), that it would be a quick and probably corny read - and I was very pleasantly surprised! I literally laughed out loud several times at Katherine's awkwardness- some of the random facts that would pop out of her mouth were downright funny! The first line reminded me a lot of myself, so I felt sorry for her right off the bat. I loved the way the story developed, her blossoming friendship with her neighbor, and her decision to finally stick up for herself with her father. She was definitely on the far end of naive, but I found it more charming (and hilarious) than annoying. I ended up finishing the book last night (so much for my original plan!) and I am looking forward to recommending it to my friends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just a little too odd, February 2, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I wanted to enjoy this book and I really liked Luc and Drake. However, Katharine was just a little too much like "Rainman" to be a believable main character in a romance novel. I kept waiting for her to actually show her personality and actually engage someone in conversation, but all we got were random facts and one word sentences. Her character was very tiring to me, mainly becuase I kept waiting for her to become a real person.

I've read this already twice because it is so fresh and darling and easy to read. I love Kate's humor and I truly laughed out loud at some of the descriptions and musings that went on inside Katherine's head. Very refreshing story. The only thing that would've made it better is if Kate had written it in third person so we could've gotten inside Luc's head as well. I'm sure what he was thinking had to be priceless!
