Sean Combs' First Signed Act (Rating: 7 out of 10- -3.5 stars),

Many may look at Craig Mack as a one hit wonder for the remix of "Flava In Ya Ear" featuring Notorious BIG, Rampage, LL Cool J, and Busta Rhymes. That song has to be one of the best remix songs ever in hip hop. Craig Mack's had a unique voice, as if it was a somewhat mix between scratchy and deep. That voice would be carried all through out the album mixed with some solid, but repeated production mostly done by Easy Mo Be, making it become monotonous sounding (mostly on the second half).
But that doesn't mean there is no standout tracks on here. Craig Mack is dope as hell on the mic on such tracks as the lead single "Get Down", and "That Y'all". The original version of "Flava In Ya Ear" is dope, even though the remix is better (and it does not appear on this album, unfortunately). Other tracks that standout are "Funk Wit Da Style" and "Judgment Day". This is a rugged and raw sounding album that I enjoyed. It has that '94 sound where it sounds good back when people cruising in Jeeps were popular. I believe Craig Mack was one of Bad Boy's better acts, and unfortunately with the success of Notorious BIG, Puff would push Craig Mack to the side causing him to leave the label and go independent. He would later return briefly in 2002, making a huge comeback appearance on G. Dep's "Special Delivery (Remix)". This album is out of print, and the prices are not that high, so if you see it go ahead and get it. Maybe one day Puffy (or now Diddy) would reissue this album with the "Flava In Ya Ear (Remix)" included (which you can find on numerous Bad Boy Greatest Hits compilations). Peace. Lyrics: B+ Production: B- Guest Appearances: N/A Musical Vibes: B- Top 5 Tracks: 1. Flava In Ya Ear (Original) 2. That Y'all 3. Judgement Day 4. Get Down 5. Funk Wit Da Style Honorable Mention: 1. Makin' Moves With Puff (Featuring Puff Daddy) 2. Real Raw

I DIG THIS ALBUM FOR WHAT IT WAS BACK IN '94,
This review is from: Project: Funk Da World (Audio CD)
to me, this is one of those albums that you hear many different opinions about. one can just love it and think that it is a classic, and then one can just flat out hate this album. me? i dig it because it has that THING about it that i just cannot explain. i just didn't think craig's style suited what puff wanted to do with bad boy in the future if ya dig me. craig mack reminds me of that underground thing that you hear at about 12 am when you are half sleep. something about this style makes me think of ultramagnetic mcs..........actually, though this album is enjoyable, i would rather listen to something by untramagnetic right about now.

Ok...let me start off by sayin this was and
always will be on pf puffys best productions. I think Criag Mack is still one of the best MC's ever. For those of you who dont know Craig Mack got in a fight with Puff bout' money and Mack felt Puffy was premotin BIG (r.i.p.) and not him, when the first album was complete. So when he went to make his second album he had like one single and thats the only thing you heard bout the cd. Mack said in late 2002 he said he dont wanna be one of those rappers who is on where are they now tv show. So he wants to git in the studio with Puff again. This cd...or both of them are hard to find because of lack interest. Now we gotta wait to see if MAck comes back.

This is a pretty good album. Some of the songs get a bit boring after a while, but most of the songs are good. If this album is cheap then go for it, but if not then I probably wouldn't bother if I were u.

This album is great, everything is on point. Craig dropped this album in 94 and I pump it in 2gee. The only question I have is where the hell is Craig Mack; it's good he got away from Bad Boy that train wreck, now where is he though.
