As 1965 began, the Cold War between the US and USSR was at its height, and space had become the perfect theater of competition in order to help set the perceptions around the world about which superpower was stronger and which would prevail. The race to the moon was to be the greatest challange for both superpowers. This one-hour program presents FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME a profile of Project Gemini, testing the technology that would lead to a manned lunar landing.
About the Actor
Many of the astronauts connected with Project Gemini were interviewed for this project, including some of whom that have passed away since being interviewed (such as Gordon Cooper, Wally Schirra, and Pete Conrad). There are also astronauts who NEVER give interviews (such as John Young) who appear in this show. Other notables include Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell, and others.
