Some racing games are a little too sim for me, like Gran Turismo and Forza. I don't care about adjusting gear ratios.

Some racing games are a little too arcade for me, like Burnout.

Some racing games just aren't my style, like the NFS street racing games of the last few years. I don't want to lower my car and get a huge wing on my Eclipse.

I still enjoy those racing games, but for me, PGR 4 (and PGR 3) is a perfect combination of simulation and arcade racing. The feel is "sim" enough to require a lot of practice to get really good, but forgiving enough to be fun from the start. The graphics are fantastic, the online play is great, and even the music is diverse and entertaining.

Also, You can drive amazing cars from the beginning, unlike GT, Forza, and NFS. I don't like being stuck with a Mazda Miata for the first few days. I see a lot of Miata's in real life. This is a videogame. I want to drive a Ferrari.

Get this game if you're looking for a great all-around racing game.

Got this pretty cheap, on Amazon, and I'm thrilled. This game has given many hours of enjoyment to my family (mostly my six year old, and I). He's gotten so good that he routinely beats my old butt. It's to the point now where he'll tell me that he'll pick a slow car, just so I can win. He thinks that's why I don't play with him, as often as he'd like... hehe

Overall, we're very pleased to have bought this.

This is a pretty good game for the age of the game.

The only thing I don't like is that when racing other racers,
their names appear over their car in big letters obstructing
the view of the track and there is no way to remove their
names from the screen , except to move to the front of the
race in 1st place , then there is nothing to see but the road.

It's a good game to add to your collection.

I'm still trying to figure out how to remove the names of the
other drivers.

I paused in the middle of a race and went to options , but
I still could not find anything to remove the names over the
cars.

Still I like the game. I just have to take 1st place to avoid
the name problem.

By the way , put the game on (EASY) are you will never
win a race.

Buy it , it's good , the price is good.

Thank You.

When I bought this game I had no previous experience with the PGR series, in fact the only other "racing" games I had played were Need for Speed games, which is more or less what I was expecting out of PGR4 when it game arrived. It did not take long, however, for me to realize that this game is so much different than NFS that they might as well not even be in the same type of game category. Where in NFS you don't really need to be good to win the races, just make your car so fast that borders on being just plain stupid, and you can slam into the wall a dozen times and still win the race 30 seconds ahead of the number two car. In PGR4, however, they take driving dead seriously, even if you are in first place, if you hit the wall more than twice you might was well restart the race because you aren't going to win. The level of frustration this causes me is almost unbearable at times, and yet once I start playing it's hard to stop, even after restarting the same race for the twentieth time. I suppose maybe I am just not cut out to play driving/racing games, but this is all the more reason why I can recommend it, as I am able to have fun playing this game even while getting passed within a mere seconds by all of my opponents after slamming into a wall going 200+ miles an hour for the hundredth time. Another feature this game has that NFS does not have is the ability to start off driving the fastest cars in the game in the single player mode as soon as you start playing, though I wouldn't recommend it. The weather feature is also a nifty little game mechanic that brings further realism to the game-play, and is usually pretty fun... except for the ice, the ice sucks.

An excellent racer overall, this is one of my first 360 racing games. The diversity in cars and bikes is superb, there are good difficulty levels to keep one playing for some time and the environments are really strong. Cruising through Las Vegas or racing down the strip in Tokyo, this game recreates areas to a T and is very well done. i was surprised to get as into this game as I was and in particular, really enjoyed racing the street bikes. Fast, good acceleration and nice AI. Good game to have for a quick spin at any given time.

I was a huge fan of Metropolis Street Racer on Dreamcast, so of course I loved Project Gotham Racing games on Xbox. I played them so much I got burned out on PGR4, so I traded it for a PS3 game. I've spent the last few years playing the death out of Gran Turismo 5 and Forza Motorsport 4. I found PGR4 on here brand new for only $4, and said it'd be fun to revisit an old favorite.

Wow! This game is BEAUTIFUL! The graphics are so vibrant and its an excellent artistic design all around. The city atmosphere is a welcome change from the sterile tracks in these new race sims. Sure, these environments don't have the same level of realism, but its more vivid and pretty. This game is eye candy!

PGR4 has a pretty decent selection of Licensed cars from the big manufacturers. These include Ford, Chevy, Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Lotus, Aston-Martin, RUF (Porsche), Toyota, and the list goes on! The driving physics are an arcade/sim blend. Its more about having fun, so its not as brutal as Forza or GT. Although AI can be brutal sometimes. But you can adjust the difficulty. The races and challenges are a ton of fun to me, especially now that I use a Fanatec CSR wheel, as opposed to a controller!

The Kudos scoring system, which gives bonus points for driving stunts, has been scaled back from earlier PGR games. Motorcycles are included but I could care less. The game is, as always, jam packed with great music. This is just a great early-generation Xbox360 game!
