Some racing games are a little too sim for me, like Gran Turismo and Forza. I don't care about adjusting gear ratios.

Some racing games are a little too arcade for me, like Burnout.

Some racing games just aren't my style, like the NFS street racing games of the last few years. I don't want to lower my car and get a huge wing on my Eclipse.

I still enjoy those racing games, but for me, PGR 4 (and PGR 3) is a perfect combination of simulation and arcade racing. The feel is "sim" enough to require a lot of practice to get really good, but forgiving enough to be fun from the start. The graphics are fantastic, the online play is great, and even the music is diverse and entertaining.

Also, You can drive amazing cars from the beginning, unlike GT, Forza, and NFS. I don't like being stuck with a Mazda Miata for the first few days. I see a lot of Miata's in real life. This is a videogame. I want to drive a Ferrari.

Get this game if you're looking for a great all-around racing game.

When I bought this game I had no previous experience with the PGR series, in fact the only other "racing" games I had played were Need for Speed games, which is more or less what I was expecting out of PGR4 when it game arrived. It did not take long, however, for me to realize that this game is so much different than NFS that they might as well not even be in the same type of game category. Where in NFS you don't really need to be good to win the races, just make your car so fast that borders on being just plain stupid, and you can slam into the wall a dozen times and still win the race 30 seconds ahead of the number two car. In PGR4, however, they take driving dead seriously, even if you are in first place, if you hit the wall more than twice you might was well restart the race because you aren't going to win. The level of frustration this causes me is almost unbearable at times, and yet once I start playing it's hard to stop, even after restarting the same race for the twentieth time. I suppose maybe I am just not cut out to play driving/racing games, but this is all the more reason why I can recommend it, as I am able to have fun playing this game even while getting passed within a mere seconds by all of my opponents after slamming into a wall going 200+ miles an hour for the hundredth time. Another feature this game has that NFS does not have is the ability to start off driving the fastest cars in the game in the single player mode as soon as you start playing, though I wouldn't recommend it. The weather feature is also a nifty little game mechanic that brings further realism to the game-play, and is usually pretty fun... except for the ice, the ice sucks.

Got this pretty cheap, on Amazon, and I'm thrilled. This game has given many hours of enjoyment to my family (mostly my six year old, and I). He's gotten so good that he routinely beats my old butt. It's to the point now where he'll tell me that he'll pick a slow car, just so I can win. He thinks that's why I don't play with him, as often as he'd like... hehe

Overall, we're very pleased to have bought this.

An excellent racer overall, this is one of my first 360 racing games. The diversity in cars and bikes is superb, there are good difficulty levels to keep one playing for some time and the environments are really strong. Cruising through Las Vegas or racing down the strip in Tokyo, this game recreates areas to a T and is very well done. i was surprised to get as into this game as I was and in particular, really enjoyed racing the street bikes. Fast, good acceleration and nice AI. Good game to have for a quick spin at any given time.

PGR4 seems to have been lost in all the great games that have been coming out for the 360 lately. I have had time to play around with it now for a few weeks and have a pretty good feel for it. It plays the same as the last PGR game on the 360 but now it has a lot of weather effects. The weather will change from rain to snow in the middle of a race and the conditions affect handling drastically. The game also features a sort of World tour as the single player. You play through the calender with races several days through the months. While playing the single player you increase your world rank against the other computer players. As you get to the higher ranks, you open new events to compete in. I really enjoyed this new addition to the game.

Overall, if you liked the last PGR or if you are a racing game fan, this is a game you should definitely pick up.

Summary
This game is the game that made me get the wheel because of its fun style and tough tracks. It has diverse tracks that vary greatly in difficulty and length (Nordschleife at Nürburgring takes around 8-12min per lap, but thats not to mention the immense skill required for the dozens of corners). This game will give fans of racing games a great pick-up-and-play game. Unlike Gran-Turismo, you already have cars you can use in each class from G-class to A-class. The crazy cars range from historical cars like the rocket, rare cars like the Buick Regal GnX, wild motorcycles like the MTT Turbine Superbike--a motorcycle powered by a jet engine! And then of-course there are the fast cars like the Ferrari FXX and McLaren F1... And oh, did I mention that fans of Back to the Future will love the Delorean DMC-12, and the secret achievement that goes along with it.

So All in All, this price can't be beat for a very good game, with it being around $5 used from GameStop, it's not a big investment. Now unfortunetly, the xbox racing wheel isn't sold anymore unless you find one used or online. I don't know why Microsoft stopped selling it, but Mad Catz makes a wheel for the xbox still but it doesn't have the awesome force-feedback that the Microsoft one does.

That being said,I still highly reccomend getting the game, hey, I played the game for a year before I got the wheel and I had a lot of fun and you will too!
