2.0 out of 5 stars Overall looks good, but should have looked closer before buying, February 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Project Life
I was so excited about this way of scrapbooking, my friend sent me the link. It seemed to be perfect for me as I had already determined I was going to scrapbook this way, using the page protectors with slots.
It was a significant cash outlay, but after reading all the rave reviews I decided to go for it. I have a new baby and thought it would be so helpful to use this to document her first year.
Once I received it and looked more closely at the slots I was very dissapointed, all the picture slots are for horizontal photos. What am I supposed to do with all the vertical photos I have? With a baby there are a fair amount of pics that are vertical so you can get their whole body in the shot...mostly to show off the latest outfit somebody sent her.

Now I have to supplement this kit with other products to accomodate those photos and they don't have the right slots for the thousands of journaling cards they include in the kit, so I'll have to make my own. Back to the sitting and finding the right paper, matching colors, cutting out..etc...this is turning out to be another big task and I was so looking forward to being able to create something great with a minimal effort! So bummed and it was so expensive I could have done better buying things separately and putting it together.

Quality of product is good, one note is that they packaged the product really nicely, but bent the page protectors when they put them in the book and shrink wrapped them, so now they don't lay flat.

5.0 out of 5 stars This product ROCKS!!, January 22, 2010
This review is from: Project Life
I LOVE Project Life! It makes documenting everyday life and all the celebrations that go with it so much easier and way less time consuming than traditional scrap-booking. I think of it as a cross between a photo album and a creatively made scrapbook. While it has elements of a scrapbook in the colorful journaling cards and dividers, the format gives you the simplicity of an album. Once you set it up, all you have to do is slip your pictures in the slots and add a note for each. If you like to add more of your own touches, it allows for that as well. This truly has changed the way I record my memories and I find that I'm more vigilant about that now, because this kit makes it so easy. Thanks, Becky Higgins!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, January 22, 2010

Becky Higgins is amazing. I have been a fan of hers since 2000 and even got the chance to meet her at a scrapbooking convention in 2006. I received this product last week and I'm so excited about it. All you have to do is print photos, stick them in their slots (like a regular photo album) and then jot down a sentence or two about the photo. There are even decorative cards if the photo speaks for itself and you have nothing to say! It is super-easy scrapbooking without messing with adhesive (which, aside from planning the layout (for me), is the most time-consuming part of scrapbooking) and the end result is so pretty! The design of the kit is timeless, and as I'm putting it together I love to imagine my grandchildren looking through the book and seeing what the year 2010 was all about. I have photos of my grandparents, but no stories except what I was told. This is such an easy way to preserve "now".

I meant to take a photo a day, but I've been quite lax. Oftentimes I've looked back over my day at the end of it and wished I had taken a photo of something. I know this will improve as the year goes on, and if it doesn't, it doesn't matter! I can use each 2-page spread to document the highlights of a month. If something important happens (my friend is getting married in August, for example) I can use those extra pages to highlight important events! It is totally versatile and I love it.

I will always like "traditional" scrapbooking, but this is something new I'm excited to experience.
