I LOVE Project Life! It makes documenting everyday life and all the celebrations that go with it so much easier and way less time consuming than traditional scrap-booking. I was so excited about this way of scrapbooking, my friend sent me the link. It seemed to be perfect for me as I had already determined I was going to scrapbook this way, using the page protectors with slots.
It was a significant cash outlay, but after reading all the rave reviews I decided to go for it. I have a new baby and thought it would be so helpful to use this to document her first year.
Once I received it and looked more closely at the slots I was very dissapointed, all the picture slots are for horizontal photos. What am I supposed to do with all the vertical photos I have? With a baby there are a fair amount of pics that are vertical so you can get their whole body in the shot...mostly to show off the latest outfit somebody sent her.

Now I have to supplement this kit with other products to accomodate those photos and they don't have the right slots for the thousands of journaling cards they include in the kit, so I'll have to make my own. Back to the sitting and finding the right paper, matching colors, cutting out..etc...this is turning out to be another big task and I was so looking forward to being able to create something great with a minimal effort! So bummed and it was so expensive I could have done better buying things separately and putting it together.

Quality of product is good, one note is that they packaged the product really nicely, but bent the page protectors when they put them in the book and shrink wrapped them, so now they don't lay flat.

I LOVE Project Life! It makes documenting everyday life and all the celebrations that go with it so much easier and way less time consuming than traditional scrap-booking. I think of it as a cross between a photo album and a creatively made scrapbook. While it has elements of a scrapbook in the colorful journaling cards and dividers, the format gives you the simplicity of an album. Once you set it up, all you have to do is slip your pictures in the slots and add a note for each. If you like to add more of your own touches, it allows for that as well. This truly has changed the way I record my memories and I find that I'm more vigilant about that now, because this kit makes it so easy. Thanks, Becky Higgins!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, January 22, 2010

Becky Higgins is amazing. I have been a fan of hers since 2000 and even got the chance to meet her at a scrapbooking convention in 2006. I received this product last week and I'm so excited about it. All you have to do is print photos, stick them in their slots (like a regular photo album) and then jot down a sentence or two about the photo. There are even decorative cards if the photo speaks for itself and you have nothing to say! It is super-easy scrapbooking without messing with adhesive (which, aside from planning the layout (for me), is the most time-consuming part of scrapbooking) and the end result is so pretty! The design of the kit is timeless, and as I'm putting it together I love to imagine my grandchildren looking through the book and seeing what the year 2010 was all about. I have photos of my grandparents, but no stories except what I was told. This is such an easy way to preserve "now".

I meant to take a photo a day, but I've been quite lax. Oftentimes I've looked back over my day at the end of it and wished I had taken a photo of something. I know this will improve as the year goes on, and if it doesn't, it doesn't matter! I can use each 2-page spread to document the highlights of a month. If something important happens (my friend is getting married in August, for example) I can use those extra pages to highlight important events! It is totally versatile and I love it.

I will always like "traditional" scrapbooking, but this is something new I'm excited to experience.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good concept, but the execution could be better, September 23, 2010
By
This review is from: Project Life
The concept for this album is great, but as I've been using it throughout the year I have developed opinions that are less than stellar. First, I found the colors used to be difficult to work with. Orange, lime green and yellow are by far my least favorite colors and somewhat hard to coordinate with photos. I think the journaling cards are too busy as well. I have found myself wanting things more simplistic with more subtle graphics. There are journal cards that fold in half and have a tab to pull out on top, but realistically those cards can only be used in certain spots (right hand side of page) because of the way the slots are made. I also think the quality of the album isn't terrific as I'm pulling it on and off the shelf every week to work on photos it has begun to show a lot of wear. As far as getting an album together quickly, this certainly answers that call. I just wish the execution had been a little more timeless/universal.

I apologize for using this wrongly, but I am computer illiterate.
I want to order the "Project Life" kit for my daughter for Christmas
but it says "unavailable". Can I get it some other way?
Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully Easy, October 30, 2010
This review is from: Project Life
I am a mother of two who LOVES to photograph everything around us. I found this kit well-made, beautiful and versatile. Yes, in this version, there aren't any pockets for vertical photos, but no one says that you can't put them in anyway, scrap them on a separate page (there ARE 12x12 matching papers included), buy them separately, or make them for goodness sake. I personally have just learned to take more horizontally and edit more efficiently. I am getting much more documented than before, with simple words or memorabilia. And that IS the goal isn't it?

5.0 out of 5 stars Making this fun again, January 27, 2010
This review is from: Project Life
I've been a traditional scrapbooker for years. I have so many supplies it's unreal. But I got burned out on what once was a favorite hobby. I didn't want to do it any more. Then I stumbled upon Becky Higgins's website/blog and found her Project Life.
Transformed the way I look at my hobby! I'm scrapping again! And it's easier and better than ever. Her eye for color and design are wonderful. Better than I could ever do. There is no wrong way to use this kit or do this project. It has truly made me want to scrap again. There are so many possibilities! Nobody is going to have an identical album at the completion, so it's not your typical kit.
It's so easy to use, the quality is out of this world!
I love everything about this kit, product and designer.
I check Becky's blog daily for tips and hints and love the examples.

I'm back scrapping again, and I'm loving every minute! Thanks Becky!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is a fabulous product; the concept is really cool and the quality of the kit is amazing. I ordered my first one from Becky when they came out originally. It arrived last week and I immediately ordered two more from Amazon to make albums for 2009 and 2008 (I take a lot of photos!).

I just can't recommend this enough; I love that I can use my own handwriting, add memorabilia and the price just about covers what a small bag of stash from my LSS would cost. Which incidentally I would tuck away and never use, LOL!

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally worth your money!!, January 22, 2010
This review is from: Project Life
You get so much product for this price!! Even if you try to put your own kit together it would cost you so much more and might not even all match. This kit has more than enough to do a P365 type project or just random scrapbooking. Totally worth the price and the quality is really good. Cardstock is really sturdy, binder is great and I can't say enough about the page protectors! So worth it! Now go buy it and have fun!
