Solid book covering the basics of project management. Kernzers is the goal standard for graduate level PM courses. Some integration of PMBoK information, but I do not think it would be good reference for the PMP test.

Project Management,
This review is from: Project Management: A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling (Hardcover)
For someone new to this field of study, I found this book very insightful and easy to understand. I will keep this and the PMBOK resource manual handy in my office.

Good both with extensive coverage but not for passing the PMP exam,

This book should be read as an overview to the project management body of knowledge and also as an overview of project management. For passing the PMP exam, this is not a suitable book. A good book for all project management professionals in general.

Kerzner's "BIG" book!,

Next to the "Communications Bible" from Dow and Taylor, this is the other must-have book from my Master of Science in Project Management program. I wouldn't think of selling it now that I've graduated (and anyway, it's full of my highlights and notes!). Between these two books, I have the basics and then some. There is so much in this text we were able to use it in three classes. One of my classmates didn't like all the bulleted lists -- there's rarely a two-page span without one -- but I found them useful. Especially when studying, it's nice to have a succinct list. As heavy as this book is, it's a little daunting when you first pick it up. It looks a little forbidding when you crack it open. But I found the writing very personable, easy to understand, and full of "I never thought of that" moments. Good research book to keep on hand.

A very good technical PM text book,

As a project management instructor at a state university and someone who has reviewed countless project management books, I've been teaching from Kerzner books for nearly a decade (different versions). Here's what I think about this book:PROS - This book is huge and covers many aspects of project management. Although most project managers will not need everything found in here, it's an excellent resource that, at a minimum, sweeps across nearly every topic at a high level. - Kerzner's books are on the more technical side of project management books. It gets pretty deep in some of the numbers sections (e.g. financial, earned value). - Generally speaking, this book is well-written and easy to read, even for the project management novice. - The exercises at the end of each chapter are excellent. They provide readers with many reinforcement activities. - Colorful charts, tables, and illustrations provide additional support for visual learners. CONS - Even though it's not meant to teach you how to use tools, there are seldom references to them. Today's project managers are expected to leverage tools such as project management information systems to help them do their jobs. - For those who are studying to be certified, this book can only be used as reference support. Do not use this as a sole source to study for any project management certification exam, especially the PMP(R). This is not the purpose of the book and therefore is not adequate. OVERALL - With the expectations that this is a text book and not a training guide, this Kerzner book excels.

Not recommended for non-mangement students,
This review is from: Project Management: A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling (Hardcover)
I used this text for my graduate Project Management course this semester. Most were technical/engineering students with very little or no business (course) background. They felt it was very confusing, "wordy" and as a result they felt they learned little about real project management. I think this text would work well in business programs or studetns who have had project mangement experience. Not for the novice.

Exceptional,

Probably the best text on project management written to date. Throw out the PMBOK and get this book. Covers virtually every aspect of project management - very useful for systems engineers as well.

Flawless ordering and delivery process system. The book was only used for 2 chapters with marks and yellow highlight from a student in a Univ. Far from being almost new, but i can live with that; i am more interested in the content of the entire book. regarding the info by Krezner (i had his 3rd edition years ago), this edition is a must read by people interested in project management, this is a great price.
As a Customer satisfaction: A+.

Amazon's eBook edition leaves much to be desired for. For example, the page numbers in the eBook are not the same as those in the standard paperback. This is critical when citing the book in papers for classes! In addition, the UI and UX for Kindle for the purpose of a textbook is absolutely horrific. Do yourself a huge favor do not buy this as an eBook through Amazon. I ended up going with a Kno version as the platform is specifically for textbook use. Wasted $50 on Amazon.
