Format: Hardcover
Great read for those seeking to understand the step-by-step approach to project management and preparing some key project management deliverables. Readers do need to recognise it as a generic approach and not one that will fit perfectly into all environments. The key thing is that the book highlights important things to consider during the planning and execution of a project in a clear and positive manner.

I was about to begin the first live project of my life, and naturally I was bit frightened. I thought of buying some book to help me at times but I was in a fix. Then, I finally purchased "The project management life cycle" by Jason Westland. Though initially I thought to read the book at the time I am stuck, but when I read the first few pages I really liked the book. Such detailed explanations with ultimate examples. I bet that each one who has read the book will ultimately correlate to one of the examples in the book.
It guided me very well on how to start the project so that in later phases there are no obstructions. I really did plan my project parameters and executions according to the book. Moreover, I did not encounter any problems in the execution of the project, and I must give credit to the book.
The book is a necessary read for managers who have begun their journey and a guide for those who have executed several projects in their life. Steps have been detailed very well along with examples that relate together. A recommended book for those who are looking for success in their projects.

I found this book to be a genuine attempt by Jason Westland to ensure that project management is no longer rocket science but simple english.Any one who reads this book would easily understand what a project life cycle is about.

It also demonstrates a structured approach one should follow during a project life cycle with lots of examples and documents templates.

Though it is not specific to any industry or function this is an open approach which could be easily adapted.

An excellent book

Format: Hardcover
As a project manager, I've seen and purchased many books on the subject of project management and find Mr. Westland's book to be one of the best. It outlines his straightforward methodology (MPMM) and includes countless examples, diagrams, forms and checklists. The CD-rom that's included gives a great overview of the methodology in powerpoint format. I find myself returning to his book countless times during the course of a project and feel confident knowing that all my bases are covered.

If you can only buy one book on project management, this is the one!

The Project Management Life Cycle is one of the most thorough and comprehensive project management books I have come across. It covers all of the essential areas of project management in a clear and straightforward manner and with the many practical examples plus the CD-rom it provides you with everything you need to manage your projects successfully from start to finish.

An essential read for all project managers at any level.

This book is for people who conceive of work in terms of to-do lists, bullet items, flow charts and tables of organization. If you're not that type, you might want to consider delegating your next project-management task to someone else - because, often, that kind of detail-oriented mentality is exactly what a project needs. At times, this book reads more like an extended outline because of its step-by-step approach. And author Jason Westland is clearly interested in promoting his trademarked "Method123 Project Management Methodology" or MPMM, and his Web site selling various planning aids. However, the book is both detailed and comprehensive, complete with charts, diagrams and even a free CD-ROM. As the cycle of corporate change accelerates, every company needs to become better at executing projects. We recommend this book to managers who need a map through the maze of tasks involved in bringing a special project to a satisfying conclusion.
