5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Reference and Companion to the PMBOK
Using this book as a study guide, it is possible to pass the PMP exam. Using only Project Management in Practice and the PMBOK to study from, I easily passed the PMP exam the first time without joining one of the intensive prep classes. Nearly all the questions on the exam were covered in this book. All the PMI required areas of study are covered; Organization, Planning,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad start, but a bit sparse on details
This wasn't a bad book - but in the course of my MBA Project Management class, we (the class and the professor) ended up relying much more on outside sources and relatively little on the text. Some of the cases were very useful though for discussion.

Using this book as a study guide, it is possible to pass the PMP exam. Using only Project Management in Practice and the PMBOK to study from, I easily passed the PMP exam the first time without joining one of the intensive prep classes. Nearly all the questions on the exam were covered in this book. All the PMI required areas of study are covered; Organization, Planning, Budgeting, Scheduling, Resourcing, Monitoring and Controlling, Evaluating and Terminating. The concepts of Earned Value and Critical Path Method are easily explained and examples given. Formulas and case studies are provided with each chapter. As a practicing Project Management Professional (PMP), I still refer to Project Management in Practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very practical book on project management, February 11, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
PMBOK deals with theoritical aspects of project management where as this book deals practical aspects of project management with real time exampls. Only one draw back font size of letters are to small to read. Gives strain to eyes.

This review is from: Project Management in Practice (Paperback)
This was supposed to include a link to the my econ lab site but it did not. The text is identical to the three previous books. Their is no reason to buy this as you can get an shook version for 50 bucks at my econ lab.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring, November 29, 2010
A Kid's Review
This book can be described in one word "boring". My whole management class complained about this book so much that it will not be in the curriculum anymore.
