UNABASHED DOPENESS - UNDERGROUND WITH HIGH END PRODUCTION, May 18, 2002
This review is from: Project Overground: Scienz Experiment (Audio CD)
yes, yes, y'all scienz and mf doom down at the.. . well check it out. scienz of life is the ny/atl crew that has been blowing the minds of underground catz for a minute. now, with Project Overground - The Scienz Experiment, they are poised to reach a much broader audience.
why? well not because they adopt the industry approach of well-known guest appearances and familiar, jacked beats, but because the musicality of this release is so strong. Songs like "Too Hot For Words" and "Hot Bananas" should get them more general, commercial and club airplay. "Yikes" (a collab with Sub Verse mate, MF DOOM) and "Life Jones" are standouts. The production quality is highend without the typical sacrifices made by artists that reach for larger audiences.
this is Scienz and Sub Verse's "Low End Theory" - yeah, the record is that good. thankfully someone is protecting the heart and soul of hiphop from bling-bling, gansta posturing wackness. tha next thing. word.
