3.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, yet fake, layered, and redundant
This album's sound is pretty much a year and a half to two years old. It would of probobly been a hit in 2003. The Prom Kings are a quartet with a singer, guitarist, bassist, and skinsman. You listent to the album, and you hear 2-3 gutiars, a keyboardist, a programmer, and some strings, etc.

I dont know how 3 instrumetns can pull the sound off live. It...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a fussion of alternative rock and industrial music!, September 5, 2005
By
This review is from: Prom Kings (Audio CD)
Prom Kings is just good music! They have a sense for what people are looking for among all these new bands. You can listen to an edging rock beat and giutar that fussions increadibly with industrial sounds. The base is amazing and although Chris, leading vocals, looks to much like Creed's vocalist, he can sing with energy and deep sentiment. I have been looking for something new that will remind me of my favorite tunes from the 90's with out loosing the new milenium rock edge. Looking forwards to see what else the Prom Kings will come out with!

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting..., August 22, 2005
This review is from: Prom Kings (Audio CD)
That's exactly the word that sums up what I think about this cd. It's kinda bizarre and interesting at the same time. I like the rockness of it and the weird lyrics. There are some alt. rock songs and some kind of dance/rock songs. I love them all. It's definatly an "interesting" mix of songs.

This is a wonderful CD containing lyrics with deep meaning, with exception of Happy Birthday, which was written for Greg Carney, the lead singer's brother. I believe the lead singer, Chris Carney, was either 22 or 23 years old when this CD was recorded. Chris sounds great, as does the entire band.. very professional for such a young group. You can just listen or dance if you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prom Kings Rock, April 6, 2007

The Prom Kings
This is one of the best CD's I have ever purchased. It is so good that when I want to listen to it I have to take it away from either my wife or my daughter first.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall great cd with a few minor low points., August 10, 2005

I heard the first release "alone" on Sirius. Such an amazing song. I ran out on the release date anxious to hear their other songs. Overall, it was everything I expected. Good mixture of some intense rock with some soft points that are equally good. My reference to the "low points" are when they experiment with some hip hop sounds. I'm not a big hip hop fan, so I could of gone without that. However, for those of you who like rock and hip hop that will make this cd all the better. Enjoy, and if the last 30 seconds of "bleeding" don't get you pumped, you are not a rock fan!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome cd, April 8, 2006
This review is from: Prom Kings (Audio CD)
I first heard Alone on Sirius Satellite Radio and I really liked it. After that I sampled some songs here on Amazon and for some reason I really didn't like many of the songs. So recently I went out and bought the entire cd and listened to it and I don't know what the hell I was thinking! I gotta agree, their are some songs where the voice gets rather annoying, but overall this cd has some really good tracks.

My personal favorites are Angels, Fade, Alone, Lines, and Bleeding.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 starts, great effort, January 11, 2006
This review is from: Prom Kings (Audio CD)
this really is a cool CD. A good mix. If the song "Fade" doesn't pump you up, I don't know what will. Some very powerful lyrics. Fade even has a 80's/early 90's Rock feel to it. A lot of variety on this CD. Well worth the money and I look forward to their next CD

4.0 out of 5 stars Good first effort!, October 7, 2005

Their is definitively talent on the band, some songs are really nice, well constructed and arranged, tight transitions and good overall sound. However, I think the band has to evolutionate into a different style, otherwise they are gonna be stuck into limp bizkit/linkin park category which is not good.

I dont know how 3 instrumetns can pull the sound off live. It has a very Nine Inch Nails meets Seether sound, but neither of the heart either of those bands have. The bassist has some skills.

The album is really well mixed and arranged, and the riffs have the moments. The weak points are the lyrics and the overall fakeness of the album. The Game appears on track 7, but even thats shallow. It doesnt seem they two artists were in the same room at the time of the record.

This album is a good deal at bestbuy for 6.99; but for no more then that. If you want to pick up some good rock records this summer, check out: Life of Agony, 10 Years, Taproot, or Dark New Day.
