Book Description

Bio-hacking. Synthetic life. Quantum minds. Welcome to the world of The Prometheans…

In these four haunting tales of the near future, Anastasia Leach explores the biopunk and quantum intelligence age in all its promise and horror. Be ready for:

*"Prometheans"— The good news: there isn't an injury you can't heal. The bad news: everyone wants a piece of you, the literal kind.

*"A Happy Place"— The Geiste are quantum minds in human bodies. In theory, they should be a thriving blend of both. In practice...

*"Colony"—There is something alive in the dark water. But, not to worry, it's only looking for a home.

*"The Mentor"— A kid with a knack for synthetic biology has a girl to impress and a bully to deal with. What can possibly go wrong?

This twisted and suspenseful collection presents a posthuman future where survival of both humans and nonhumans depends on ageless feelings of love, fear, hate, and hope.

4.0 out of 5 stars Questions and Dark Outcomes November 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The Author of the Prometheus (sic) compendium has a unique skill for not only developing new sci-fi concepts, but exploring the crimes that these new technologies might enable. If you were able to heal major injury or organ damage within hours, a natural reaction might be for you to celebrate? Or perhaps, as the author points out, a better reaction would be for you to change your zip code before you become the unwilling supplier of black market organs. Questions and dark outcomes such as these can be found in abundance within.

As with any compendium the short stories included are a mixed bag. However, The Mentor and The Messenger (sic) are definitely worth the price of admission.

More About the Author

Anastasia grew up enjoying both literary and speculative classics, but it was her lifelong love of science fiction that inspired her to begin writing several years ago. She treasures stories that inspire faith in humanity, and sides with conflicted heroes who find their way in the end. She believes that science just might save us, but no sooner than when we learn compassion for each other and the natural world around us.

When she isn't writing, Anastasia catches up on TV shows, listens to electronic music, and blogs. She lives with her husband in Boston, Massachusetts.

"Prometheans" is her first published collection of works, available through Belfort & Bastion.
