Book Description

May 1, 2003
"Your Son."

Two words had never held such power over CEO Tyler Winchester. He wouldn't have believed them, but the child in the photo he stared at resembled someone he'd never forget: Miranda Caldwell, the woman who had stolen his heart eight years before. The two of them had fallen crazy in love, but their runaway marriage had unraveled as quickly as it had started.

Seeing Miranda again after all that time brought back feelings Tyler had long since abandoned -- feelings of love, and forever. But family, serenity and the faith she embraced weren't high on his life's to-do list. And Tyler had thought nothing could change that . . . until Miranda looked into his eyes once again, and little Sammy called him "Daddy."

More About the Author

I realized I wanted to be a writer at age eight, when I read my first Nancy Drew novel, The Secret of the Old Clock. Most little girl reach the end of that book wanting to be Nancy. I wanted to be the person who created the story!
The dream lay hidden for years while I became a teacher, married, had children...all the usual things. But eventually it re-surfaced, and I began to write, beginning with short children's stories for Sunday school take-home papers. It seemed a long time until that first acceptance, but eventually I began to sell. After some three hundred published short stories, I finally found the courage to work on the novel I'd always wanted to write.
Thirty-some published novels later, I still feel the same excitement every time I begin a new book--a mix of not believing I can do it combined with an overwhelming urge to see the story on the page.
A lifetime spent in rural Pennsylvania and my own Pennsylvania Dutch roots eventually led me to the books I'm writing now about the Amish. The Pleasant Valley Amish series from Berkley Books are longer, more complex emotional stories with Amish main characters, while my forthcoming HQN suspense novels are more adventure-filled books set in Pennsylvania Dutch country. I'm also writing a Love Inspired series, The Bodine Family, set on the South Carolina coast where we have a second home.
When I'm not writing, I'm busy with church activities, traveling, and spending time with my three children and six beautiful grandchildren.

5.0 out of 5 stars Promise forever: Love Inspired # 209, April 7, 2004

This review is from: Promise Forever (The Caldwell Kin Series #4) (Love Inspired #209) (Mass Market Paperback)
~Tyler Winchester isn't the powerhouse the town's people think he is. He left town 8 years ago, leaving his heart with Miranda Caldwell.
Tyler has been given the task of closing the mill. That will hurt the town, the town's people want his blood.
But the real reason he came to town was to find outwho sent a picture of Sammy and told him of Sammy's existance and if Sammy is the son he left behind.
Tyler meets Sammy and the fireworks start, he thinks Miranda sent him the picture of Sammy.
~~Sammy doesn't like Tyler because like everyone else he thinks Tyler has some control over not having the mill closed.
Tyler must learn to trust his own heart and his eyes when he sees Sammy is his son.
But since Miranda didn't send the picture, who did?~

Two words have never meant so much to CEO Tyler Winchester as the words "YOUR SON". He couldn't believe it. He was looking at a picture of his son that he never knew about, Sammy. He looked just like his mother, Miranda, from eight years ago. And the feelings of love and family came back to him all at once. Read the book to find out who sent the picture and why.

4.0 out of 5 stars Characters that draw you in from the very first page, November 10, 2007

Tyler Winchester is stunned and angry to find out he has a son from his brief marriage to first love Miranda Caldwell. How could she have kept this from him? When he travels back to Caldwell Island to confront her and meet his young son, he finds a stronger and more determined Miranda than he remembers. He certainly isn't prepared for the challenge she gives him ... stay on the island for one month so he can get to know his son in a familiar place before they decide how to proceed for his future.

Miranda knows when Tyler walks back into her life that the differences which separated them before have not changed. Tyler's world of wealth and power is not one she fits into. However, for her son Sammy's sake, Miranda does everything possible to help Tyler get to know his son, despite her fears that Tyler will try to take Sammy away from her. But when her love for Tyler is rekindled, can she trust God to work out His plans for all of their lives?

Marta Perry has a gift for creating characters that you will identify with and root for from the very first page. Tyler's change from a driven business man to one who learns to put his family first was believable and touching. I could empathize with both Miranda and Tyler's feelings and fears, and my heart both broke and rejoiced as they sought to get past the hurts of the past and do what was best for their son.
