I enjoy reading all of of vanessa miller's books. This was a great story about a woman minister, Yvonne who loses her husband of over 30 years to cancer. After his death, members of the church would like to fire her because of members leaving the church. Her husband's best friend a minister, Thomas Reed comes to help restore the church along with her. They begin to spend time together and are attracted to one another. Great beginning of a love story. I highly recommend the entire series. The story also has a man who is set on revenge who is trying to destroy the church structure. You will be anxiously awaiting what is going to happen next.

A Promise of Forever Love is the story of Yvonne Milner, a rising female pastor in Detroit who hits a slow patch as she tries to recover from the death of her husband David two years older, and manage the church that she and her husband had co-pastored together for years. Things are further complicated by a declining economy, and scheming individuals intent on removing Yvonne from her her post as senior pastor and destroying her church. Meanwhile, her growing feelings for longtime family friend Thomas Reed has her confused. Yvonne's hands are full with her personal life and her church and she must depend on her faith to navigate her way through the crises.

This was my first read from Vanessa Miller and I enjoyed it. I actually purchased another book from her but have not received it yet and so ended up reading this one which I bought on kindle first. I wasn't wowed by the concept but the story turned out to be interesting. The characters felt real, except for Marvel who seemed a bit over the top. But this did not detract from the story. I felt that it started out a bit slow,(I actually put it down for a few days which is unusual for me) but once it picked up, it kept me hanging on until the end. As a younger reader I can't really say I identified with the protagonist who is in her 50s, but I still enjoyed the book. It was a little heavier on the scriptural references than most books I read, but this did not take away from the story - however it should be a warning to those who are unsure whether or not this is Christian fiction or just another church drama story.

This is a great inspirational offering from Miller and I look forward to reading more work from her.

This was a great new series, I loved the ups n downs n how it makes you think u know the end n then changed up in the end.

It's for the person thinking that they can't start over because of the feeling of maybe they are losing their love for their deceased loved one.

Filled with expectancy and hope, it's like a piratical way of life for married families. Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

I had bought the first two books in this series froma book store and could not locate the last in the trio. I must say that Vanessa is an excellent writer and give you enough emotional poise to understand her charachers whilst not taking away from her christian beliefs!!! Great job writer well done. As a christian this book gave me a nice novel to read whilst still not going overboard. LOve it!!!

Yvonne, the heroine in A Promise of Forever Love by Michelle Larks , is a beautiful 52-year-old pastor, still mourning the loss of her husband. Although her husband has been dead for 2 years, she still feels his presence in her life. She has difficulty moving forward and focusing on her responsibilities at the church she pastored with her husband, its congregants, and her relationship with her daughters.

Because of inattentiveness and unethical activities unbeknownst to her, Yvonne’s church is losing money and members and she is in danger of losing her position as senior pastor. At a board member to determine her fate, several board members Yvonne thought were friends abandoned her.

A charismatic motivational speaker, writer, and widower, Thomas, Yvonne late husband’s best friend, enters the scene in time to save her position at the church—to the dismay of one board member. She regroups and develops a plan to rebuild the church.
As Thomas and Yvonne spend more time together, their friendship grows to a romantic level. Their relationship, portrayed to the public as illicit by an unknown source, causes conflict within Yvonne, who believes she may be betraying her husband’s memory.
Her adult daughters’ poor judgement leads to them getting involved with men of questionable character—one of whom threatens one daughter with physical harm.

An evil force threatens the existence of Yvonne’s beloved church and its surrounding neighborhood. Heavenly forces also show their power at a critical point in the story.

Through it all, Thomas is faithful to Yvonne, in spite of her numerous problems and sometimes harsh resistance to him as a suitor. He admires her inner strength and believes they are meant to be together.
