This is Hal's best book, certainly the sanest book he's ever written. he has good capsule discussions of such key Hebrew Bible prophecies as Isaiah 53, Micah 5:2, Isaiah 7:14, Genesis 3;15, Malachi 3:1, and others. I felt that Lindsey was very strong on the Genesis text and on Malachi and also on Daniel 9:24-27.

But his exposition of Isaiah 7:14 was not as thorough. Lindsey starts out by saying that this is a controverial text. He then assumes that the people who translated Isaiah 7:14 into Greek were looking for a virgin born Messiah, and there is simply no way to conclude this beyond a reasonable doubt. It is sheer conjecture.

It would be better to say that Jesus fulfilled this text analogically. Just as the miracle borth of a child was a sign to the House of David in the time of Ahaz, in the same way, the miracle birth of Christ was a sign to the House of David in the time of Herod.

But I enjoyed this book. Lindsey writes well, and his story telling style will keep you hooked and will make you want to read the entire thing in one or two sittings. Recommended.

I found Promise to be a enlightening book taking me through the Scriptures and showing just how the Messiah had been "promised" and how those prophecies were fulfilled. I like to read through this book every year before Easter.

Due to the fact that it doesn't even say how many pages there are or when it was released or give any editorial reviews at this time, it might not be.

If this is however the book about Christ's return and the proof of his existence:

This was a terribly boring book even though the subject was interesting to me. There is some information that you can connect with the bible if you're into combing through the bible for things that may or may not make sense to you or even make you care much even it does. It was interesting but didn't strike me as having alot of substance. It's like he's just throwing opinions out at random, then trying to find a way for any part of the bible to sound like it comes close. I didn't care for it at all, and I don't think it is worth buying.
