5.0 out of 5 stars If you love Amish Fiction, this is a MUST READ!
I read Amy Clipston's first book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery,A Gift of Grace: A Novel (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series) and loved it. When I was given the oppertunity to read an advanced copy of the book not only was I honored, but excited to see what was going on with the Kauffman Family.

I certainly suggest picking up a copy of ' A Gift of Grace' by Amy...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Promise of Hope
I enjoyed this second installment of the Kauffman Amish Bakery series for the most part. Sarah is a young widow pregnant with twins, and grieving her husband's death. A relative of her husband, Luke, comes to town to check on him, except Sarah was told her husband was an orphan. The misunderstandings piled on from there. I get that Sarah was grieving, but the whining was...

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love Amish Fiction, this is a MUST READ!, April 2, 2010
This review is from: A Promise of Hope: A Novel (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series) (Paperback)

I certainly suggest picking up a copy of ' A Gift of Grace' by Amy Clipston, but if you haven't read it, no worries, you can absolutely pick right up with this book.

Set in Bird-In-Hand, PA, the main character, Sarah, is a first time expectant mother who is greiving over the tragic loss of her husband. Sarah moves back in with her parents who are trying their best to love and support their greiving daughter, reassuring her that people will help her take care of her babies. Sarah is overwhelmed with greif and sadness. While working in the family bakery she meets a man who has come to Bird-In-Hand to learn more about her husband's death. This man, Luke, claims to be a realitive. Sarah learns many things, some quite troubling, about her husband's past that she never knew, but she also learns quite a bit about herself as well.

You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll definitely fall in love with the hero of the story, as I did. A MUST READ for anyone who is a fan of Amish Fiction. If you like Wanda Brunstetter and Beverly Lewis, well the Amy Clipston should be a new favorite author of yours as well! I personally, cannot wait until the 3rd book in the series becomes available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Amish fiction hit!, July 18, 2010
This review is from: A Promise of Hope: A Novel (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series) (Paperback)
If you're looking for another Amish series then this is it! Amy Clipston has a wonderful in the story of "A Promise of Hope", published by Zondervan. Since this was book two in the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series I wasn't sure if I'd be able to follow this book without having read the first but thankfully it was easy. There is some background information that happened in the first book, which gave me a good understanding of what had happened prior to me starting this book.

I read this book in two days, probably would have been one day but I had a headache one night, and I can't wait for the next installment. Keeping my attention for the entire time I read, there was no dull moments in this book, which I really liked. I did become frustrated at times with the characters lack of communication, however they finally overcome that, much to my delight and relief. I'd rather characters just say what it is that they are feeling and get it over with but that wouldn't make for much of a story, would it?

With so many authors saturating the market with Amish fiction it's hard to tell which one isn't going to be the same `ol, same `ol but with "A Promise of Hope" there is no risk of that. This book is one that you can pick up without having a feeling of deja vu and enjoy it from page one until the end.

**I was provided a copy of this book through Zondervan's book review program.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book, June 9, 2010
This review is from: A Promise of Hope: A Novel (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series) (Paperback)
Amy Clipston has done it again, this was a very good book. The only negative I noticed was there was too much care paid to Sarah, someone always asking if she was alright. To me it went a bit overboard but it might just be me. The story line was good, her writing is great and I really enjoyed the book. Try it, I bet you will too! BJ

5.0 out of 5 stars Amy Clipson books, January 10, 2012
This review is from: A Promise of Hope: A Novel (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series) (Paperback)
I have all of the availible titles for the Kauffman Amish Bakery series and have to say I enjoy them all. With down to earth characters and strong interaction between them I have found the books to be both uplifting and realistic. In them all we are shown a lifestyle that is not the norm in our culture. I think that is the interesr for some but a downfall for others. This is a glimse into a different way of life committed to following God's plan for life. It is well worth the time to read and be uplifted. While some feel it is unlikely to have twin bothers at the heart of a story I personally know of many large families where twins are not the exception but the rule. Where God leads them is where God leads them. It is the story of the journey that is compelling to us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kauffman Amish Bakery Series, January 8, 2012
This review is from: A Promise of Hope: A Novel (Kauffman Amish Bakery Series) (Paperback)
Like what many others already commented, I too love Amy Clipston's books and especially the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series. I am anxious to read the newest one, A Life of Joy. Clipston portrays the Amish in a good light as opposed to some who give them a bad rap. She repects their beliefs and does not belittle them. I like that. She makes her characters seem so real and it is hard to put any of her books down until the last page.

2.0 out of 5 stars much of the same, January 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I can honestly say this is the first time I have been disappointed in any of the Amish-based books I have purchased. It was much too much like other novels where the main character gets upset with her future husband/wife and spends the whole book moping, crying, being angry, and criticizing each other until they get it figured out in the end.

Very boring.
