Book Description

August 29, 2003
Josh Miller's younger sister is murdered, an event that turns his neatly ordered world upside down. The year is 1991, army Captain Mandy Frye returns from Operation Desert Storm to a hero's welcome. Among the honors won is a year's scholarship to finish her graduate degree studies at Collier University in Vermont. Early in May, near the time of graduation, her severely battered body is discovered by police chief Sam Larsen. A popular, serious student, Captain Frye had no apparent enemies. Who committed the heinous act, and why? The Promise is both a novel of suspense and romance, and an investigation of the psychological effects experienced by the sibling of a murder victim. When it is learned that his sister was murdered by her sociopathic husband, Josh is driven to the brink of despair by his insatiable need for retribution. How far will he go in the name of justice? Although a fiction, the events in The Promise are torn from life, they have happened before; probably doomed to happen again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A review for my MOM, March 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Promise (Paperback)
It took my mom 10 years and it must of been difficult to write because of the real events it was based on. I think she did a great job and I'm very proud of her. Its an easy read, give it a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Promise a review, August 12, 2003

This review is from: The Promise (Paperback)
The Promise is a surprisingly compelling book. Surprising because it is the author's first novel. It is a mystery with a courtroom setting. I could see myself walking beside the main characters entering the courtroom and watching the procedings as if I were there.

Lois has developed great characters. The police, the DA and the brother are all interesting characters that you want to read more about. Their human qualities add to their believability.

The book is written in large print and is easy to read. I would like to read more by this author.
