More About the Author

Barbie Bohrman was born and raised in Miami, FL and ultimately moved to the Garden State where she currently resides with her two children. Life, and all that comes along with it and having long since given up on her dream of pursuing anything in the writing world, a prologue contest in a book club garnered her interest enough to throw her hat in the ring to see what, if anything, would come from it. From that contest came the roots of her debut novel, Promise Me. When she is not writing you can find her trying to get through the 1000+ books on her Kindle, or watching Lost or Seinfeld.

I want to say this first, this is a good book. The writing is good, the plot is for the most part good and so is the character development. Tyler really knows how to make a girl swoon with is hotness and words, for most of the book I really enjoyed Sabrina too,I actually could really relate to her for the most part. Alex and Julia yeah I liked them too and a book of their own would be nice. Spoilers ahead

***SPOILERS AHEAD!!!***
The last 30% of this book ruined the whole thing for me. I hate hate hate cheating! I hate when a chick does it in a book, I hate when a dude does it in a book. The thing I hate the most is when all is forgiven and blah blah.

Sabrina's high school boyfriend cheated on her and Tyler is the one that was there for her the night she found out, such a nice guy is he... Yeah he is and he's all hot too and caring UNTIL he does the same damn thing. He does it knowing what she went through and he still claims to love her?!? I will never understand cheating, how can you love someone and cheat? I don't know, Sabrina doesn't either apparently it she still takes him back. The most aggravating part about all of this for me is that she felt bad for making him wait while she figured things out and she apologized to him? and then! At the end he tells her to promise that she won't make him wait that long to kiss him again. Um... How about promise her you won't cheat again!? S yeah first 70% of the book in love with Tyler all swoon and then he totally ruined it for me. I wanted to like him still and there were moments I couldn't stop wanting to smack the s*** out of him.

Spoilers *******

Really?? another book with a cheating boyfriend, and I don't mean the one from high school I mean the one that's supposed to b her night in shining armor . Books like this one give girls the impression that a cheating boyfriend is ok . I was really hoping to give this book at least 3.5 stars but then she goes and forgives the lying sack of s*** she called her first love . Only to end up with another cheating sack of S***. If after only one month your man has already slept with someone els you better dump his ass . I hate authors that write a grate %80 of a book only to mess it up with a cheating hero at %85 of the book and then writes the heroine forgiving him at %90 of the book ....really I mea Come on ,real relationships don't work like that. The process of forgiving is way longer more painful . It makes me feel like the Author just got lazy at the end and scrambled up whatever .

My initial thought on this was that it didn't really make me feel anything. Then I realized that wasn't quite true. It made me feel a bit annoyed. It was like I'd read this story at least ten times with different cities and character names. And unfortunately, this one did not stand out in the pack for anything positive. Once again it's the bad-boy who thinks he's not good enough for the refined pretty girl, and the jilted heroine with "trust issues". Come on. Really? Everyone gets jilted at some point intheir life. Everyone experiences betrayal and heartbreak. Holding onto it so very very tightly for 10 years allowing it to define your life doesn't make you a tragic figure, it makes you an idiot. And a note to the author - weakness and insecurity do not make for sexy, attractive players. There was so much snivelling in this story I felt like I should have taken out stock in Kleenex. I won't go the spoiler route and tell whether she takes back the cheating jerk, you can guess for yourself what a whiny, self-involved, idiot with serious self-esteem issues would do, and voila - you have your answer.

This book had me in its grasp until one moment that made me want to throw my kindle.
Spoilers ahead.

"Did you **** her?"
"Yes"

Oh my god. That she even considered taking him back had me shaking my head.
I finished this book with a pit in my stomach.
Such a shame she had to turn out like every other doormat female character.

Thank goodness I'm a Prime member and was able to borrow this for free. I would have been pissed to spend money on it. Maybe not if it was .99, but any more than that would have been torture.

When at some point in the book, I am so annoyed, that it motivates me to get back to my own writing, that's a sign. I read an excerpt a while ago of another book, and immediately bought the entire series, loving each second of it. I didn't think of my writing for 2 days. Not the best thing to brag about, but for other authors, if you're trying to capture my attention, that is the way you do it.

I found myself, "Blah, blah, blah"-ing through this book, skimming scenes (even the sexy ones), rolling my eyes and sighing 'out loud'. Ok, seriously, how do you not sigh out loud? I grumbled to myself when the MC did not grow throughout the story, none of the characters did. This was the typical broken girl leaves town - makes a name for herself in a big city - comes back for her reunion to shove it in the face of those that hurt her - give them the revengeful proverbial finger, wet dream. Oh not to mention the bad-boy hottie that is in love with her and vice versa ever since he showed his humanity ten years ago. I kept reading, hoping it would get better.

I did like the prologue and epi, I just wish the chapters in-between were just as good.
