Alas, my TBR shelf . . . so many books . . . so little time . . . with that in mind, Cheryl Reavis' books have patiently waited for me. And after finishing PROMISE ME A RAINBOW, I am forced to ask myself, "Why the wait?" for Cheryl Reavis' earlier books are true treasures.
Release Date- June 1990
From the Back Cover-
A Time For Loving Is Coming Around Again . . .
CATHERINE: She thought love was gone forever. Deserted by her husband because she couldn't have a child, she tried to put the bitter past behind her and start a new life.
JOE: He still felt the tragic loss of his wife -- and barely knew how to handle his precocious seven-year-old daughter on his own. But the handsome, headstrong man vowed never to set himself up for pain again.
Now Catherine and Joe are about to discover a forever kind of love they both thought they'd never recapture.
My Review-
After years of failing to have their own children, Catherine Holben's husband decided to move on to more fertile soil. Left all alone in the world, Catherine is truly lonely, until she meets hardworking, widower Joe D'Amaro, a handsome man with three children. Indeed, Catherine and Joe are two solitary people hauling excess baggage, but these two people are willing to see where a relationship could go. That is until Joe's eldest daughter Della strikes.
PROMISE ME A RAINBOW is a well-written heart-warmer. However the very attributes that make PROMISE ME A RAINBOW a personal favorite are the same attributes that could grate on another readers' nerves. If that sounds like damning with praise, keep in mind that what one person deems unworthy is another's treasure. For this reader, I truly enjoyed this romance. Cheryl Reavis knows exactly how to spin a tale offering sections that twisted my heart strings. The scenes involving Joe's youngest daughter, Fritz, are indeed touching, with each word whispering pain and anguish. There is no doubt, this is my cup of tea; so much so, that I hurried to order Cheryl Reavis' earlier works, written under her pseudonym Cinda Richards. So why not the perfect grade of A+? Quite honestly, I wanted more with the adorable Fritz and less with the atrocious Della. I know every story needs a little conflict; yet, I wanted to read about the cherubic Fritz.
Sigh, in one big step PROMISE ME A RAINBOW moved from TBR shelf to my revered Keeper shelf.
