The promise of Partnership is a "must read" for anyone in ministry leadership in any denomination. The basic principle the text operates from is that we are all called to use the gifts and talents we have been given to serve the community, and that each member in the community has something to offer. The basic skills necessary for ministry partnership are reviewed and numerous examples are provided for clarity. A very practical book that, if implemented by a worshiping community, could bring the community together in order to provide strong ministry programs that not only meet the needs of the larger community, but nurture the growth of all involved in the process.

The Whitehead's book is a well written and practical description of what life in the structure of a church should and could be. This book blends current principles of secular business research and best practices with the basic principles of the reign of God. They describe how each member of the local congregation or parish - just as each member of the Body of Christ - has a unique gift for the body. Each gift if important for the realization of the reign of God, whether pastor, secretary, lector or janitor. The Whiteheads articulate this concept in a well supported and written manner, pose thought-provoing questions, as well as insights on ways to bring about a true partnerahip.
