This latest Kem CD was well worth the wait. Another jewel in the Kem collection. I love the positive, expressive lyrics and so nice to hear music in which women are held to such high regard. None of that disrespectful crap heard on some of the music being produced nowadays. Buy it and keep this music alive!

Hot damn! This cd is awesome. I received it today, and keep playing it over and over..... Just, W-O-W! Thanks Kem for continuing to make "real" music.

Brilliant lyrics; crisp and clean soulful sounds to help any listener through rough patches in their relationship. Thought provoking hooks. Favorite is track 6! I'm a drummer and it immediately made me start playing my "air drumkit". Lol. Good stuff KEM. Can't wait for the next project.

THIS release by master talent KEM, is a solid reassurance to all that there is hope for LOVE, PEACE, JOY, HARMONY and all other positive expressions of humanity. ALL songs are so wisely written, well crafted vocally and instrumentally...This album.."PROMISE TO LOVE" will indeed soothe the most scarred soul...become a most treasured icon...and will surely provide a lifetime of listening enjoyment...although "NEW", this record is already a classic. KEM is heavily influenced by all the legends of R&B, GOSPEL and JAZZ, you can detect that as you listen...This record expresses... THE SOFTER SIDE OF LOVE...
EVERY single song is perfect in almost every way...as I listen, I wonder how on earth he makes these most splendid recordings..He doesn't have a talent, KEM OWENS is GIFTED by GOD himself...The blessings of THE ALMIGHTY SPIRIT is upon him.
THERE are two editions of this album: the standard and the deluxe editions which contains 13 songs total to the standards 11. Don't miss out, go get the deluxe.
IT is so hard to choose a favorite song here but my soul hitters are "SAVING MY LOVE", "PROMISE TO LOVE", "DOWNTOWN" featuring rapper SNOOP DOGG, is as good as it gets a perfect blend of HIP-HOP and R&B. "DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO", "MY FAVORITE THING", featuring living legend RONALD ISLEY, is a true stand out. "IT'S YOU" is indeed perfect, as with all his songs, women are held in very high esteem here. MY absolute Favorited song here is the pounding and sensuous "SOFT SIDE OF LOVE", this cut really hits my soul real hard...I love this one so.."NOBODY", "PRAY FOR ME" and "MOMENTS" are all excellent. Enough accolades can not be said of this album. PROMISE TO LOVE is like a revitalization capsule to this staggering music industry. Very highly recommended to all lovers of excellent music, your very soul will be revitalized !!!.

Another masterful album by Kem. It has been 4 years since his last CD "Intimacy" and he has not dropped off a bit. He has at least 5 to 6 songs they should be playing on the radio. His duet with Ronald Isley is wonderful. For someone who was once homeless, he has utilized his gifts and talents to the fullest. He is a great artist and his music is timeless in this age of artist who just plainly are not good. This is a CD I would recommend anyone from my family and friends to purchase. It will not disappoint you.

Overrall I think this is Kem's weakest album, but its not the worst because there are signature songs on here. I don't think anything will compare to his last album. I think his style changed a little on this record and songs a bit.... mainstream.... Especially with the songs "Downtown" and "My Favorite Things" and the Title track. Kem has not lost himself musically like most have... unfortunately I have to put Ledisi on blast for "The Truth" but I hope he keeps up with putting out what he's known for and what we love him for.

My top 5:

5. My Favorite Thing - The song grew on me and it was different for Kem, but I do like it a lot now.

4. Saving My Love For You - Signature Kem. Nothing else to say!

3. Say Something Real - This sounds like a track from his first Album. I love the funkiness and the lyrics.

2. The Soft Side of Love - Beautiful... Reminds me a little of Frankie Beverly and Maze. Just want want to hear from Kem.

1. It's You - Love this song! He really knows his love songs and this one sounds like a classic R&B song.

This man could sing 'Old McDonald Had a Farm' and it would be UNBELIEVABLE! He makes you feel and believe what he is singing. May we continue to be Blessed by his magic!

I absolutely love this CD!! I recently saw Kem in concert on his opening night of his Promise to Love tour in Fort Lauderdale. If you think the CD sounds good then you should hear him sing live. Fantastic! He sounds even better. Most albums are produced by using different sounds from a computer and rarely these days do artists use true instrumental music. That's what I love about Kem. He's old school. There's hints of Jazz, R&B, Gospel, etc in his music making it music that everyone can enjoy. Buy the CD. You won't be disappointed. Love that he added Snoop Dogg and Ronald Isley to this album. It shows his diversity. Top 5 songs: It's You, Say Something Real (love the funkiness), Promise to Love, Beautiful World and Downtown. It's so nice to hear songs where women are treasured instead of the usual crap on the radio that degrades and disrespects women. He's not afraid to talk about love, talk about pain, talk about being a good man. Keep it coming Kem!!

In my opinion KEM is dynamite all on his own. This time around along with KEM is a whole laundry list of guest artists joining the party - Snoop, Ron Isley and somebody else (I forgets) add their unmistakeable voices to most cuts. To be honest I had trouble picking out KEM with all that was going on - which is not necessarily a bad thang but I loves me some KEM. Period.

Anywho . . . my point is the 1st, 2nd and 3rd KEM CD's stayed in rotation in my CD player for months on end and I never felt the need to listen to anything or anybody else - everything that man sings just blends sooo smoothly and one song after another keeps the mellow vibe going - and though I know they're coming up with each song I feel like I'm hearing for the first time (y'all know what I mean lol).

"Promise To Love" took me a couple rotations to appreciate its diversity of emotions and voices but I'm getting it now - and I like it - especially "Do What You Gotta Do" - however the next time around I'll be needing my KEM fix - straight up and no chaser.
