Underrated Film and Film Score,

Promised Land was an underrated film with good performances by Keifer Sutherland and Meg Ryan. The soundtrack by James Newton Howard is equally underrated. Due to the fairly dark film subject matter, the music is haunting beautiful with a few inspirational pieces. Promised Land Suite reminds me of wedding music for the bride to walk up the aisle (even though the song clocks in around 7 minutes).
While I am a fan of the movie, you do not need to see the movie to enjoy its music. If you are a fan of James Newton Howard, you will not be disappointed.

Some very pleasant melodies,

This has some very nice melodies. The main theme is repeated in several ways that accented the piece. But it is a collection of very different types of things. I will have to try to watch the movie sometime even though the reviews look pretty mediocre. The music is certainly pleasant.
