Book Description

September 27, 2009
Abby is a little girl that is being abused by her father. She is very scared and confused and hesitates telling her teachers about what is happening at home, especially because her father is also physically abusing her mother. After working up the courage to tell her teacher, Abby meets Ms. Rogers, a caseworker who talks to her, as well as the school counselor, Ms. Billings. Together, they find a way to help Abby get out of her situation and live with other family members in a safer, loving environment. This book is an invaluable tool in helping children learn about abusive relationships and knowing when to seek help. Kara T. Tamanini is a licensed mental health counselor and works as a child/adolescent psychotherapist in a Christian counseling center. She plans to expand her website, www.kidsawarenessseries.com by writing more articles and books to help children and adults learn about issues relating to abuse and mental health. She lives with her husband and daughter in Bartow, Florida.

More About the Author

Hi!! My name is Kara T. Tamanini and I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Barry University. I have worked in the mental health field for the past fifteen years and work primarily with children and adolescents.

I work with a variety of children who are struggling with a variety of issues. I have developed a website for parents and children that brings understanding to the childhood mental disorders.

My first book, Understanding my ADHD, is a children's book written in language that children are able to understand and is to help children understand what ADHD is and it's symptoms. I feel that children should be made aware of what is going on with them, as awareness brings understanding and with that we can work towards a solution.

My second book, I Promised not to Tell, has recently been released. This second book is to promote awareness of child abuse to a child and to facilitate the reporting of any type of abuse.

I developed www.KidsAwarenessSeries.com in order to facilitate awareness of the childhood disorders and to give parents information in order to help their children. My series of books will eventually include information on more than just ADHD and will include books on Child Abuse, Autism, Asperger's Disorder, Bulimia, Anorexia, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and information on children of divorced parents.

I love to travel with my family and enjoy reading other author's books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent tool for parents and educators, December 10, 2009
By
This review is from: I Promised Not To Tell (A Story of Courage) (Paperback)
"I Promise Not To Tell' - A Story of Courage, is a children's book that gently approaches a subject that many cringe to even think about.

This book is one that should be read with an adult, parent or child provider. The illustrations by Al Margolis, are engaging, colorful and helps the child to relate and understand to Abby's story of reporting her father's inappropriate touching.

I Promise Not To Tell is an excellent and educational tool in helping children learn more about abusive relationships, allowing them to know it is safe to report inappropriate behavior by adult, even if it is a parent. Physical, sexual as well as verbal abuse is not acceptable.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Promised Not To Tell, November 28, 2009
This review is from: I Promised Not To Tell (A Story of Courage) (Paperback)

I Promised Not To Tell. by Kara T. Tamanini, M.S., LMHC.Eloquent Books, New York, New York. 2009, 41 pages

In a society where there exists an excessive amount of abuse towards children the book I Promised Not To Tell is an extraordinary tool. This is a great tool created by Kara Tamanini and her vast experience in working with children. It is a book that will help a child understand abuse is not ok. Further it helps the child understand there is nothing wrong with telling an adult whether they are experiencing abuse in their homes, in any other place, or if they have been abused in the past and are afraid to tell. It will also help and encourage the adult in the child's life to help report abuse. It will assist the child to open up and not feel they have to hide, and feel guilty. It will also enable the adult to help the child without having him or her be intimidated. This is a book that every psychologist, counselor, teacher, social worker, or any person who works with children must read and have.
