Typically, I enjoy books written by Connie Mason. But not this one. It is just sooooo far fetched and borders on ridiculous. You can find better books by Connie Mason out there.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute story, March 3, 2011

This review is from: Promised Splendor (Mass Market Paperback)
This was different than Connie Mason's usual books, but it was indeed hard to put down! It was fast-paced, so it wasn't boring at all, and there was sooo much emotion. The characters were wonderful. Kane was so devoted and sweet. Glenna was headstrong and determined to save Kane whenever she could. They belonged together definitely.

So much was going on in the book, but Connie always writes in such a way that you don't get confused. There were tons of spelling and grammar errors, which, as a former English major, was a big peeve of mine. But this is an old book, so you have to expect those in old historical romances. The only other problem I had was with Kane being emotional at times and not giving Glenna a chance to talk or explain or anything. And the one time he called her a name I was disgusted and mad at him, but he was really a good guy inside.

5.0 out of 5 stars WORTH READING, April 12, 1999

This review is from: Promised Splendor (Paperback)
Their Fathers being childhood friends, Kane's a weathly Banker and Glenna's a miner. Glenna comes home after being away at school and finds her father has been killed. Kane answering a letter from her father goes west in answer to a letter to his from Paddy ONeil, meeting on the train, and later finding out who each other is and falling in love. Kane and Glenna have many obstacles to cross to be together in the end. This story is packed with action and great reading. I loved it as with all of Ms. Mason's books.
