I'm a big UB40 fan and I can easily say this album represents the best of their studio work. The band has been haunted by the commercial success of their cover hits but this album clearly demonstrates that they can write and arrange great original work. "Things ain't like they used to be" is one of the best UB40 singles never released. Other standouts include "Promises and Lies", C'est Levie", "Higher Ground" and the two last tracks. Overall, one of the 90's most underrated classics.

I saw UB40 at the Greek Theatre about the time this CD was first released. Listening to this CD brings back the memories of those times. "Higher Ground" and "Can't Help Falling in Love" are the hits that bring back the most memories. This is one of those CDs I play time and time again.

Their remake of "I can't help but Falling in Love" is worth the price of the CD alone. They take the song to a new level.

I've owned this album for 10 years and still love it. On top of that, Higher Ground is perhaps one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time. If you don't have this album - buy it.

This is a 5 star UB40 album and all the songs are good, but also catchy. Unlike most or previous UB40 albums this is not a cover album, which means they wrote all the songs themselves accept for "I can't Stop Falling in love with you." My favorite song is "Bring me a Cup". This album never gets old and is totally feel good reggae music the way only UB40 can produce. Buy now you won't be disappointed.

I don't like some of the songs on this album. I bought it for Can't Help Falling In Love. Now you can get Red Red Wine AND Can't Help Falling In Love on UB40's new The Very Best of UB40 album. Go figure.

Ub40 had been around since 1980, and until now they never had an album that had so much power. The well known single {I cant help} Falling In Love is on this album. They feature great sounds, except, that some of the songs are just silly sounding. And some of the songs are overdone. But now over all I give it **** for great music. Pros Great music long songs soft songs wonderful sound. Cons It's very hard to understand what there saying.{ But much more easy than in other albums.} So dish out your money and get Promises and lies.

Well well, here is one more great album from UB40. They have been rocking since the 80's, and they're still giving regaee a powerful new meaning. Most brilliant lyrics I've come across since Bob Marley and Ziggy Marley.

I was happy with this purchase. CD was in top condition and delived to me in a couple of days.

I've been ordering items through Amazon for many years. I'm satisfied with their company and the companies they deal with. The only problems I've had is late delivery and Amazon is right on it when you e-mail them with such a problem. Pretty much whatever you want or need is at your fingertips through them.
