Editorial Reviews

Review

'Microarrays are still predominantly used for gene expression analyses, but they have seen extensive use in genome wide (epigenetic) localization studies. This publication is a great resource for both students and researchers alike working with promotor and cpg island arrays. The chapters are highly informative, focusing on chromatin immunoprecipitation and tiling microarray analysis in both academic and commercial settings. The experimental details and data analysis methods associated with this array format are covered in a comprehensive manner'. -- Gary Hardiman, Ph.D. Director BIOGEM, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, University of California San Diego

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By John H. Frenster on December 29, 2006
Format: Hardcover
This fine addition to the Nuts & Bolts series is a splendid introduction to the

techniques of chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) as extended to microarrays (chip).

The two techniques are combined (ChIP-chips) for the analysis of promoters and CpG

islands in the molecular analyses of functional genomics.

As with all textbooks, the state of the art progresses past the date of publication,

and we now use, in addition, chromosome conformation capture (3C) and (4C) techiques

to determine chromosome-chromosome contact points and the networks based upon such

inter- and intra-chromosomal contacts.

The authors are part of this continuing advance, and this first edition gives every

promise of their continuing excellence in future editions.
